  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Gen 1 and 2, mankind given a vegetarian diet
Gen 8 after the flood mankind given meat to eat after 1600 years (at a time when mankind lived 900 years on average)
Then the life spans drop like a rock
Gen 6 God predicts it would drop to 120 years as in the case of Moses a 1000 years later.

No return to killing animals in heaven or the New Earth
We see the decline in mankind's life span when meat eating is introduced .. from the biblical record
Then the opposite must also be true. That is, that everyone who is vegan (or vegetarian, as many are) live amazingly long
So then that "Blue Zones" study that was done by nonSDAs finding that the SDA community in Loma Linda is among the 5 most long lived people groups on Earth.

Thanks for reminding me
Please tell me precisely how these remarks relate to the topic of this thread?
The chain of responses above is "me" responding to "you" regarding my statements about the health benefits of a vegan diet (ie not eating meat"

I agree. Bob, as well as others on this thread, seem to be avoiding the topic of thread.

one more time then "with feeling"

We see the decline in mankind's life span when meat eating is introduced .. from the biblical record

Very well. Let's get back to the topic of the thread. Do you have any proof that eating meat weakens moral powers?

Right, the reason he is asking about the topic of the thread is that you quoted the topic, then went on to post on a different topic back in post 220.

You have presented no text saying that meat eating caused a shorter lifespan. You have simply asserted that based on correlation.

And as @prodromos indicated, it was not a "prediction", but a declaration on God's part referenced in Genesis 6

Genesis 6:3
3 And the LORD said, “My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.” (NKJV)

But that is not the topic of this thread anyway. The actual topic of this thread is Ellen White's claims that meat weakens moral powers, in the particular context of the statements about Israel's diet. If you wish to participate, then comment on that.

While still on the far side of the Jordan, in the initial conquest under Moses, we see that the people of Reuben and Gad had "a very great number of livestock".

Numbers 32:1-4
1 Now the people of Reuben and the people of Gad had a very great number of livestock. And they saw the land of Jazer and the land of Gilead, and behold, the place was a place for livestock. 2 So the people of Gad and the people of Reuben came and said to Moses and to Eleazar the priest and to the chiefs of the congregation, 3 “Ataroth, Dibon, Jazer, Nimrah, Heshbon, Elealeh, Sebam, Nebo, and Beon, 4 the land that the LORD struck down before the congregation of Israel, is a land for livestock, and your servants have livestock.” (ESV)

Surely these livestock were never intended to be eaten. Israel, being a very moral and kindly nation, probably had adopted the livestock as pets which, in due time, would be accorded proper burials in landscaped cemeteries.
