  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

are you same generation as larniavc.

Im millenial. laniavc seems boomer / x

I'm 37, whatever range that places me in.

The islam bit doesn't bother me.

I think it's because i think liberal values in the uk run deep.

I dont think islam is strong enough to compete

Both are an issue, but political policy is something that ebbs and flows left and right, the same cannot be said for Islam. Once it's present, that's it.

The biggest issue we face with liberals is them not realising they're the useful idiots for Islam. Eventually their support will have consequences that hit close enough to home to realise that for all the bluster from the left about Republicans in the US and right-wing politics here is that they're practically saintly compared to your average Muslim-majority country and their treatment of women, LGBT and other 'at risk' groups.

Maybe the terrorist attack last night in Germany will open a few eyes to the reality of encouraging foxes into the hen house, then again it hasn't in the multiple others like it in recent years so who knows.

Only thing that concerns me is the rapid growth of Islam here...
I find that odd. I know tons of muslims and if anything they feel threatened by the Reform crowd and the far right trouble makers.

Sorry I meant liberalism -
valuing freedom. making your own choices and deciding things for yourself.
debate and discussion to discover truth.
distributing power.

It's a shame the the UK is full of people who don't want to assimilate to British life and want to try and change that way of life.

Sorry, but this is exactly how Farage and Reform and Restore Britain are gaining so much traction.

I find it strange that people who 20 years ago were staunch Labour supporters, leftists, are now far right. I don't think it's the people that changed.

Concern about high immigration rates is conflated with xenophobia and racism. I think that is a mistake.

Calling people names instead of addressing the issue they are increasingly concerned about is another mistake. It compounds peoples frustrations and feelings of being ignored, and so the vicious circle continues and widens.

If Farage and Reform and Restore Britain are so wrong, it should be easy to break it down for them. They are just people like everyone else. Glory to God.

Calling people names
I call them those names because it is an accurate reflection of their attributes.

The fact that racism in the past was so accepted (who can forget “if you want an n-word for a neighbour vote Labour”?) simply mean our culture has become better.

Be better.

I guess it must have been all those lefties in power for all those years up to now who let Johnny Foreigner in?
