  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Maybe some rogue members are. In the meantime, the IDF is attempting to prevent such acts.

No military is perfect. You think Hamas is perfect?

Maybe you should allow the same amount of 'mistakes'..?
You mean that Gaza should have dropped 233,000tonnes of explosives on Israel and levelled out 80% of their BUILDINGS?

I feel like if you offerred Gazans the options of doing "the same amount of mistakes", they'd be a lot happier. But obviously, nobody should be doing that.

Because it was awful when the IDF did it.

Nope, nobody said war was fair, or that it should be equally proportioned. Your preferred side is losing? That's too bad.

Wer'e talking about war crimes.

The UN talks about War Crimes all the time. Numerous other groups do too.

But you don't care about those conversations.

The rule of proportionality is codified in the Geneva Conventions.
But the UN makes no case for Palestinians waging war for over 100 years long - as that's how Islamists fight. So I don't think the UN or Geneva conventions should be the gold standard, because they fail to take longevity into account, which can obviously be excessive... Especially when these groups claim they'll fight for eternity.

You guys don't care about "forever wars", do you? You think that's fair or even sane?

When someone swears, according to their thousand year old religion, that they will never stop fighting, I think that's the point where exceptions can take place... That's the point where excessive bombings and strikes can be allowed - to stop a force that vows an eternal battle, for the greater good.

Oh no! They want a temple and their ancestral homeland to live on.

Let them have it!
We don't let Hamas have their ancestral home back when they commit terrorism; why should the Zionists be any different?

I'm gonna stick my head out and label this "war" something closer to "resistence" as it seems, in all respects, to describe their actions better.

Not gonna excuse it. But also gonna say they have good reason to resist.

If we won't let them both open the floodgates of their full potential, and finish this once and for all, then we're allowing the "forever war" to take place.

...Are we making the right choice? How do we know?

...The latter is your choice. The former is mine. That's all there is to it.
Full potential to do what?

And they will resist for as long as their ethnic identity remains in existence. Which could be 1000 more years, or they could be genocided out of existence before that.

After another 50 years, I could understand the desire to fully genocide them from existence, because that's just too much fighting. Be realistic! How much bloodshed, pain and misery, should people have to endure, and for how long before it's too much?

Who here can tell me that an eternal battle is better than genocide? And if they can, explain how it's better so we can understand that logic together.

Others have found genocide to be a preferable solution to their own 'eternal' problem.
I don't think the Jews had waged any kind of violence against the German people, and certainly not for hundreds of years straight!

If they had, perhaps the world would not have intervened at all.

Instead, the German Jews were 100% innocent victims. So that's not the same at all.

Again what is better? 1000 years of constant bloodshed and battle? Or a quick end, by means of genocide. Tell me the answer in truth, if you can, on which is better.

This is a real question. I don't know for sure myself.

Genocide requires the deaths of all noncombatants on the losing side, not just 'collateral damage'.

We
Antisemitic attacks have been committed for decades and I doubt that an islamistic fanatic has been waiting for Mamdani's words to attempt his horrific murder.
And even IF that were the case; would that be a reason not to enforce the international arrest warrant issued by the ICC?
Shall we let the Hamas leaders that are accused of war crimes also off the hook - or are we going to use a double standard?
We should not be enforcing any international arrest warrants from the ICC in this country period. Our justice system is not part of the ICC. We have our own.

To fight each other to the end, without any outside interference... To do whatever they choose under the sun.
Fight each other to what end?

They can always make peace with each other. Is that the end of which you speak.

(There is something you are thinking that is not coming through in your message.)
