CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Indeed. Many Muslims have been killed by so-called Islamic extremists because they weren’t “Muslim enough.”
A majority of Muslims are very peaceful people who don’t harm others.

I think people can disagree with Islam as a religion, and still show love and respect to Muslim people. That’s their prerogative.
If others are hating the Muslim faithful, that’s where problems occur. Then that isn’t ok.

Yes, Islam is strictly Unitarian (no belief in the Trinity) like Judaism, that’s true.
As far as comparing King David and Mohammad? Hmmmmm…..I’m not sure, I don’t agree. Then again, I’m no scholar, so I really can’t comment one way or the other.
BUT, from a Trinitarian Christian perspective, Yahweh is God the Father , since God never changes.
Peoples images and perceptions do.
BUT thats beyond the scope of this thread.

Everyone's gonna say they're not biased, Joseph, regardless of "Christian" or "Not-Christian"...
But how can we test ourselves *for sure*..? I bet you over 50% of Christians who claim to not be biased towards Muslims, trans-people, and homeless addicts, are actually biased indeed towards one or more of those groups.

In the Christian context, the question is not so much "how do people behave?" but instead "how does Christ call upon his followers to behave?"
At least thats how Christians used to frame it. I realize American Christianity may have elected to leave that path for the most part.

Well, good for you I guess in being consistent. Modern "conservative", which seems to be your landing spot, doesnt mesh very well with the traditional understanding of "Christian" imo.
