My opinion is more limited because it's been a while since I played console games. Lately though I have found myself wanting to listen to game reviews or opinions about upcoming games and it turns out there's a lot of them. In particular is the idea of game remakes. Some want minimal changes with a few quality of life improvements, others want a completely new experience with gameplay as long as the core of the story is intact, and others want a balance, not too different but an opportunity to enhance graphics and include cut content that never made it in the original due to limitations of the hardware.
Maybe it all really has to do with the level of confidence you have in a game developer to pull off something great. For example, a lot of gamers were not too pleased with the Halo combat evolved remaster. The graphics were noticeably better, but many were not pleased with the aesthetic. Some environments seemed too bright and took away from the appeal of the nighttime sniper mission, or some of the horror and suspense of later missions. With the Zelda remaster, I think it was received mostly well, but they didn't nail the vibe of the final boss fight too well because again, brightness. Even with the Halo campaign evolved remake coming out in a few days, some are not pleased with visuals of the forerunner architecture-- as it's suppose to look ancient and weathered like it's been there for a long time, but they went with a more polished new look.
All in all, I think the Halo campaign evolved game will be received decently while others may not feel it is worth the money. While seeing some of the gameplay, I didn't care too much what I saw concerning the standard missions, but the new prequel missions seemed interesting.
Maybe there is a silver lining in all of this. Maybe game developers need more time and experience with concepts like this before they can attempt a more ambitious project. Or maybe they do have the potential already, but a lot or some of them, mainly the leaders of the company are more interested in making a quick buck and profit off a game that could have performed better at launch.
