CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I would think it is best to call an exterminator. I do janitorial work on the side at our church and one time accidentally came upon a nest that was just being built. It was Thursday evening & I wiped out several in the same spot over an about 90 minutes & took out a fair number of wasps; I multitasked. Each time more & more wasps seemed to return. In the beginning, it seemed manageable but then it began to seem dangerous ( I wasn’t stung). Thankfully, we were able to have an exterminator handle it before Sunday.

I take care of them around the church we attend and my house. Get several cans of wasp spray. There are several brands of it available and they all seem about the same as far as effectiveness.
What you are looking for is one that says it will spray 20+ feet. You want to get a couple of cans as it sprays out a stream of insecticide about the diameter of a pencil for 20 feet, so a can doesn't last too long. But it will kill the ones on the nest, it will kill the ones around the nest, any it comes in contact with - it will kill.
Give the nest and wasps a good soak. Walk away. Come back in a little bit. If there are any wasps still around (most or all of them should be dead by now) give it another soak.
Wear some eye protection so it doesn't blow back in your eyes if you get a breeze or stand right under the nest.
Anyway, that's how I do it. I've never been stung. If the nest is high up it helps to use a ladder.

I've seen people in videos put gasoline in a bucket and put the bucket over the nest. The wasps fall out of the nest and die in the gasoline.
Also, unless there are small children or allergic people around, it can be possible to just leave it. Wasps are useful insects. The nest dies in the autumn and actually deters new nests in the coming years.

I've seen that in videos as well. I've honestly never tried it..
My thoughts were... "Hmmm.. me, balancing on a ladder, with a bucket of gasoline, beside a wasps nest. All it would take would be one thing to go wrong and it could end badly."

I just go by live and let live, and haven't had any problems so far. But I also don't spend much time sitting around outside or eat outside, and allergies, small children or pets are a concern.

We live not all that far from an army barracks, and sometimes we can hear them firing machine guns etc.
But I'll stand corrected the next time we think we can hear grenades going off. It will just be the pest exterminators at work.
