  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Elon Musk's SPCX (SpaceX) stock down from the $225 high to a $125 low today. The investors are not happy with losing $100 a share. Could be more that that if the rocket explodes next week!

From the investor comments... Someone actually commented that Elon planned on making a fortune off selling oxygen to space aliens!

Booster and Ship both splashed down where they were supposed to without exploding. Cool - share price can move in other direction now
If the SPCX value is tied to making rocket launches, then there is no way that company is worth a trillion dollars.

No the company value is tied to the fact that commercial space transportation is a game changer and especially if tied to Data centers/energy infrastructure in space supporting unlimited numbers of AI server farms. But the rockets have to work and the sooner the better for Starship.

space data centers are no "game changer". Even the most optimistic require 1/10 the current launch costs. That is before the very large deficiencies of space data centers themselves are taken into consideration relative to terrestrial ones. This particularly true for pure compute where locality doesn't matter. Even if you need to relocate data sources with communication infrastructure, it only is of advantage if you are already using a satellite internet service and you can co-locate the web server with the satellite it would be faster for those satellite internet service users. AKA, if you put a copy of wikipedia on a Starlink satellite it will be faster to use wikipedia for starlink users, but if the only server for wikipedia was on a Starlink satelite it would be much slower for the rest of us.

Looks like both booster and starship came back to earth with a hard landing. I believe they are going to attempt to catch both booster and ship portions for Starship 14 sometimes this fall.

The starship had a soft landing as evidenced by the absence of an explosion and the obvious intact condition.

I agree that catch attempts will be tried before year end. However, no attempt will be made to catch the booster on the next launch, given the anomalies in engine firing during the landing burn. There is no obvious publicly available information that would preclude that the next launch be orbital, with a subsequent catch of starship.
