American Beaten to Death in West Bank

It’s too bad this administration likely doesn’t see him as American enough to pursue this further.

Israeli settlers attack journalists, including CNN, on the anniversary of deadly West Bank beating​

Four settlers were arrested after an attack on CNN and other journalists in the occupied West Bank on Saturday, according to Israeli Police.

The journalists were near the village of Sinjil north of Ramallah to cover the one-year anniversary of the killing of Saif Musallet, a Palestinian-American who was beaten to death by Jewish settlers, last July.

The four settlers were wielding wooden and metal rods and stones. One settler brandished a knife and tried to puncture the tires of CNN’s vehicle.

The settlers then began to jump on the vehicle behind CNN’s — carrying another group of journalists — and smashed the windshield of that vehicle. Another group of settlers tried to block a separate exit route before chasing the journalists towards the town of Sinjil.

Musallet’s father told CNN no one has been arrested since the killing.

It goes a bit further...often times they'll stand by and watch it and do nothing, or in some select cases, they'll participate or facilitate it.

Watching the recorded footage of exchanges with the obnoxious Hasidic settlers was what shifted my viewpoints on that conflict.

A lot of those videos resemble that of an obnoxious loudmouth bully acting bold and brave because he's got his big buddies standing 10 feet away. Video of settlers dragging Palestinians from their homes and spitting at them, and as soon as a Palestinian raises a hand or pushes back to defend themselves, there's a half dozen IDF rifles pointed at them - is enough to make a person's blood boil with revenge fantasies.

Originally, I toed the uniparty establishment line on the matter as was a supporter of Israel (as posts from a few years ago would show), but I've seen enough of the videos to recognize that the Hasidic bad actors (and the IDF that enables them) make up more than just "a few bad apples".

That's what shifted my position from "we need to back Israel" to "we need to cut ties and stay out of it altogether" (because I still wouldn't want to back the opposing entities either, I'm certainly not going to pretend that Islamic fundamentalists are "the good guys" either as a result of it)

It's definitely driven me more toward the Jeffersonian stance of "honest commerce with all nations, entangling alliances with none"

I most certainly hope this gets investigated and people charged and held accountable for their actions. It doesn't mattwr what "side they are on."
