That is an interesting claim. I have a friend who studied climate science (exo climatology) before his PHD experiment was destroyed by the mars rover that failed due to metric SAE conversion issues. He states that it is the opposite, that Republicans seem to downplay the severity and disruption from climate change.

Given that I wonder upon what do you base the claim that Democrats are engaging in fear mongering and ego stroking?

Whereas Lake Powell is like a like on the moon. The land around it is extremely barren. It looks totally post-apocalyptic. Lake Powell is a fake lake because that blasted landscape isn't a natural environment for a lake.

It's actually supposed to be alarming that an extremely hot, arid and barren place has drought conditions.

It's historically low water levels in recent years is no cause for concern because it's located in an "extremely barren", "post-apocalyptic" envrionment. Say, who is using the dramatic language here?

It's the type of terrain that was chosen to set off nuclear test bombs. As for Lake Powell's history, that only goes back 63 years. Lake Mead however came into existence a whole 90 years ago. And in the 1950s water levels got significantly low. Then 30 years later water levels got so high spillways had to be opened to keep it from overflowing. That's an example of how climate trends happen in cycles. The longest catastrophic drought in the recorded history of the Nile River Valley occurred around 4,000 years ago.

I have never said that I know better. I fully acknowledge that the climate is in a hot dry cycle in areas prone to drought and hot summers like Arizona and Nevada.

Now there are those who have PhDs in areas like parapsychology, and therefore are experts in that field. But that doesn't mean one should put a whole lot of trust in their conclusions. Or put another way, one doesn't have to know a whole lot about parapsychology to question the conclusions made by parapsychologists.

I have never met a PhD in parapsychology, even those who publish about parapsychology are pursuing a PhD in psychology most of the time (or hold a PhD in psychology).
