  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Grace and peace to each of you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

My name is Rev. Von Hanshaw, and I am grateful for the opportunity to join this community of believers. I have served the Lord for more than forty years as an ordained Independent Free Will Baptist minister—pastoring churches, preaching revivals, teaching doctrine, and working in prison ministry throughout Kentucky. The Lord has also allowed me to write extensively, authoring over one hundred books on theology, Christian doctrine, Appalachian heritage, and pastoral training.

A few years ago, I retired from active pastoral ministry due to advanced FSHD muscular dystrophy, a condition I have lived with since my youth. Though my physical strength has declined, the Lord has been faithful to redirect my calling rather than diminish it. Today my ministry continues through writing, mentoring, teaching, and online fellowship. What I can no longer do physically, God has allowed me to do spiritually through encouragement, doctrine, and the written word.

I come here to fellowship with other believers, discuss Scripture, learn from the Body of Christ, and contribute wherever the Lord opens the door. My heart is especially drawn to holiness preaching, revival history, Baptist doctrine, and practical pastoral theology.

If I can be a blessing to you—through prayer, teaching, or encouragement—I am honored to do so.

In Christ’s service,
Rev. Von Hanshaw

Welcome. I will be praying for you.

I myself am clergy but am on an extended sabbatical due to an hereditary illness.

I’ve always had an interest in Free Will Baptists and other smaller Baptist groupings; I am Orthodox now but I have a background as a Congregationalist.

God bless you!
