  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Now there's a sign of a successful program...

DOGE won’t get a closing report detailing savings or workforce cuts, OMB says

Testifying before the House Appropriations Subcommittee for Financial Services, Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought said there were no current plans to publish anything official about what happened while the Department of Government Efficiency was active.

During the hearing on June 30, subcommittee chair Dave Joyce (R-Ohio) asked, “is there something that you’re going to present or is there somewhere we can find what exactly DOGE accomplished as far as reductions in dollars spent, people at agencies, or whatever? Is there going to be some documentation of what took place?”

The DOGE website went dark last month. And the president’s proposed budget has no funding for the agency.
The 120th Congress will be busy with hearings to suss out DOGE’s effects, I’m sure.

It did what they wanted it to do: disrupt the stable, functioning part of the government.
What we wanted to do is to stop wasting money. Throughout this thread, it has been demonstrated that great strides were made in that direction.

Thanks Trump!

Oh, and gay muppets aren't a functional part of our government.

We were told there would be arrests after DOGE discovered fraud. How many convictions have there been?

How do we know money was saved without documentation?

There have been quite a few. I would say somewhere in the high hundreds, based on what I've seen.

T-SPLY on Youtube reviews the fraud convictions regularly You might want to check it out.

What we wanted to do is to stop wasting money. Throughout this thread, it has been demonstrated that great strides were made in that direction.
There were a lot of claims to that effect early on in the thread. Later in the thread, reality ensued and details emerged, and it's an open question whether it cost more than it saved (And that's being generous). Now, if it is left to Trump, it appears we will get no accounting.

AI Overview (Google: "did doge save more than it cost")

No, the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) did not save more than it cost. The initiative ultimately cost taxpayers money and fell far short of its promised savings. While DOGE officially claimed to have saved roughly $214 billion, nonpartisan budget experts and media investigations found these numbers highly inflated, double-counted, or based on expired and spent contracts. Independent estimates calculate real verifiable savings were often negligible or resulted in a net cost due to the operational chaos it created. For instance, mass civil servant firings and terminated contracts resulted in administrative chaos, agency scrambling, and expensive rehiring.

Independent analyses, such as those from the watchdog group PEER, suggested that mass deferred resignations and related severance or transition issues cost taxpayers roughly $10 billion alone. Other macroeconomic projections estimated the total cost burden to taxpayers and lost IRS revenue at over $100 billion.

Doge lied about what were doing. It mishandled social security data. Lied about the cuts it made. Lied about the efficiencies it realized. Lied about the criteria by which they made those cuts.

It promised to cut $2 trillion but didn't even achieve 1% of that amount. Elon canceled contracts for services the government needs to function, and stripped every oversight on his business. Oversights that were in place to protect the people. He enriched himself in the process and called it a day.

They lied about everything, made everything worse and response from the right has been "gee I'm so glad NPR gets less funding now". Which just goes to show they will happily defecate in their own pants as long as a liberal has to stand next to them and smell it.

National Health Care Fraud Takedown Results in 324 Defendants Charged in Connection with Over $14.6 Billion in Alleged Fraud

Huh... no mention of DOGE or Musk in that write-up. Almost like that "agency" had nothing to do with this. Maybe the E.O. cited mentions it? NOPE.

"Principal Assistant Deputy Chief Jacob Foster, Assistant Deputy Chief Rebecca Yuan, Trial Attorney Miriam L. Glaser Dauermann, and Data Analyst Elizabeth Nolte, all of the Health Care Fraud Unit of the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section, led and coordinated this year’s Takedown. The cases are being prosecuted by the Health Care Fraud Unit’s National Rapid Response, Florida, Gulf Coast, Los Angeles, Midwest, New England, Northeast, and Texas Strike Forces; U.S. Attorneys’ Offices for the District of Arizona, Central District of California, Northern District of California, Southern District of California, District of Columbia, District of Connecticut, District of Delaware, Middle District of Florida, Northern District of Florida, Southern District of Florida, Middle District of Georgia, District of Idaho, Northern District of Illinois, Eastern District of Kentucky, Western District of Kentucky, Eastern District of Louisiana, Middle District of Louisiana, District of Maine, District of Massachusetts, Eastern District of Michigan, Western District of Michigan, Northern District of Mississippi, Southern District of Mississippi, District of Montana, District of Nevada, District of New Hampshire, District of New Jersey, Eastern District of New York, Northern District of New York, Southern District of New York, Western District of New York, Eastern District of North Carolina, Western District of North Carolina, District of North Dakota, Northern District of Ohio, Southern District of Ohio, Northern District of Oklahoma, Western District of Oklahoma, District of Oregon, Eastern District of Pennsylvania, District of South Carolina, Middle District of Tennessee, Western District of Tennessee, Northern District of Texas, Southern District of Texas, Western District of Texas, District of Vermont, Eastern District of Virginia, Western District of Washington, and Northern District of West Virginia; and State Attorneys General’s Offices for California, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Wisconsin. That had nothing to do with DOGE. Not only does your link not attribute it to DOGE, but the investigation began during the Biden administration.

Care to try again?
