Washington Parade Called Off--But Some Still Marched

The 4th of July parade in Washington DC was called off because temperatures were expected to be in the 110-115F degree range.

But there was one group that marched anyway. The
Patriot Front.

The best current estimates are that about 400 Patriot Front members participated in the march. That figure comes from the organization itself and has been widely repeated in news coverage. Independent estimates have generally described the crowd simply as "hundreds," but the available reporting is consistent with a turnout in the neighborhood of 400.

The marchers wore the group's characteristic uniform of navy shirts, khaki pants, tan caps, and white face coverings. They carried 13-star "Betsy Ross" flags, Confederate flags, and and their Patriot Front flag. The symbol on their hats and their flags contains a white fasces (adopted by Benito Mussolini as the symbol of Italian Fascism) surrounded by 13 stars on a field of blue.

They marched from the vicinity of Union Station toward United States Capitol, chanting slogans including "Reclaim America."

This march occurred separately from the official Independence Day festivities.

You know, that really comes across as someone who was trying to excuse what these thugs are. Or maybe you were just trying to make some facile political point using white supremacists as a counterpoint to whoever you think the left supports. As if it's a given that the right would automatically support these cowardly thugs and the left would cheer on whoever you deem to nominate as left wing thugs.

Now I'm absolutely positive it wasn't the first option. As no right minded person could even contemplate excusing what these mentally deficient degenerates believe. So unless there's some other rather obscure reason for attempting a cheap shot at 'the left' which you might care to explain then I'm having to go with Option 2: Rather than join with others in decrying this human garbage you somehow thought to attempt instead to score obscure political points based on people's views about this gutless scum.

Over the time I have been on this forum I have had to lower my expectations as to the standard of political discussion which I can expect. I simply had to to avoid being constantly disappointed. Maybe there'll be a level which it might reach when it will serve no purpose in me posting any more. I'm not there yet. But you just got me a touch closer.

While Mussolini used a similar symbol, it also appears here on either side of the speaker of the house :

The left, that I know didn't like, that people were destroying things and looting. Because George Floyd was murder by Cops. I never heard the left calling themselves Antifa. I saw peaceful protest. Sadly, some people create chaos. I'm guessing you're okay with turning America white only. Like these people.

According to what I read they do not publicly self-identify as "fascist," "neo-Nazi," or "white supremacist."

Well yeah the symbol has been around awhile and I’m sure copied many times, in many logos and organizated groups that like organization for it’s own sake and for its many benefits.

But fascism as a system-of-governance that makes the society in which it sits, regimented to absurd degrees, just like any other ideologically extreme form of authoritarianism.

Being ”United” means that these little squabbles that we continually have, is all “normal”.

I do not think that conservatives want to hurt our Nation and I would like to think that my conservative friends understand that I don’t want “bad things” to befall my home either.

Despite the “interesting times” we’re all going through (these daze), things are still somewhat “pretty good”.

I can show that when they still called themselves Vanguard America (I got there by following the webbadress, featuring prominently on Patriot front stickers), they went under the motto american fascism. Combined with a statement from the now leader of the Patriot front that the name change wasn't an repudiation of the earlier politics. It still gives you a little wiggle room. This is not the be all end all of possibilities.

It seems the position is the same if not the verbiage.
