  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Question for Trump supporters : Is the right wing media giving Trump enough support?

Question for Trump supporters : Is the right wing media giving Trump enough support?
Is it that they don't want to identify as Trump supporters or that the topic doesn't interest them?

CNN makes a handy reference point on these charts. CNN is on the border of "Strong Left" and "Skews Left." Where these charts put CNN shows how far their chart needs to be shifted to get a true idea of bias.

In the case of the chart above, I'm reminded of the 2004 Presidential Election. No one was calling the election for Bush or Kerry, when all of a sudden NBC projected Bush as taking Ohio and the other outlets were going "What?" Now, as it happened, I wasn't watching NBC results because in 2000 they had called a state for Bush when I thought they were relying too much on exist polls and not enough on actual returns. But NBC was going to interview Ohio's Secretary of State about the returns, and I tuned in to that. It turned out that the margin of Bush lead in the tallied Ohio returns was greater than the number of untallied absentee ballots, so even if every absentee ballot went for Kerry, Bush would still win Ohio. That was the basis of NBC calling the state for Bush. Immediately after the interview, Fox News called Ohio for Bush, as did other news outlets.

CNN didn't. CNN continued to report that the state was too close to call. The persisted to do so to the point that it got to be a joke. It was only after Kerry conceded the election that CNN called it for Bush. That alone knocks CNN down at least one tier in the chart, and I'd place it two tiers lower in the chart.

Make of that what you will.

It used to be much more common for people to post threads either praising Trumps accomplishments or defending Trump from attacks.
So I wanted to find out if the Right wing media had switched to more stories just attacking Democrats and if the typical pro Trump person on this forum is happy with the change.

I'm not a Trump supporter, but I listen to a lot of content from the entire political spectrum.

From what I can tell, he's still getting plenty of support from a good chunk (probably over half) of the right wing pundits and podcasters out there.

Outlets like The Blaze, Steven Crowder, and the boys over at The Daily Wire still seem to constantly put a "positive sounding spin" on everything he does.

The only conservative critiques I hear of him seem to be isolated to entities like Israel-critical conservatives Tucker Carlson and the Hodge Twins, libertarians like Glen Greenwald and Dave Smith, or alt-right types like Nick Fuentes & Alex Jones.

I'm not very familiar with right wing media, but I' ve found that a lot of the "bias" comes from omissions.

Years ago, whenever the current president digressed from his usual flurry of daily faux pas and had one of his frequent huge scandals Fox News would have features about Hunter Biden or Hillary's emails. It would just take me 30 seconds to really that there was a Trump problem of huge proportions, and I'd go to a real news station to find out more.

I haven't watched in awhile, but I'd be willing to bet that they haven't mentioned the word "Epstein" in at least a year---unless they found it in connection with a Democrat.

The “wins” do seem to be getting far apart.
But in the populism-politics we have now, if something the President wants gets denied, then there’s obviously “bad guys” who prevented, or “vandalized” this (or that something).

President Trump is either a victor or the real victim. If he wins, there’s bragging to do; if he loses, there’s people to blame!

And he’s loved for that, (and rightly so, after, all he’s convinced many of them that this is “normal”)!

I’m old enough to remember when there were Liberal Republicans*, well before the Republicans become the “conservative party”…and up until today when the GOP gets further and further away from real, actual, “conservative principles”, somewhere over on the right.

*and, yes, Conservative Democrats

There is not a lot of just right wing media out there unless you are mostly talking about the pundits. FOX has never really been totally right wing, though they do lean right, they are divided on what they report about Trump.

The pundits, however, have become very split, and some of them seem to have gone completely bonkers. Like Candace, Tucker, Meghan, and the Hodge twins. There are still some that continue to support him, but have tempered their exuberance with caution.

I tend to believe he is playing the long game and understands he is going to lose support in the midterms, but in the end, he will win the chess game. But it is sad to see so many jump ship because not everything he campaigned for was accomplished in the first year of this term.

You can‘t make a hamburger out of squash, right-wing media would love to tout a “win!“; but all they get are squash!

You can‘t make a hamburger out of squash,
Are you sure about that? Summer squash like zucchini is probably too wet, but have you considered a drier variety like a pumpkin? Sure, the texture, color, flavor, etc. might be somewhat off, but....challenge accepted!

What a rabbit hole!

There are recipes out there but the meaty component comes from either meat or beans. And it turns out I was wrong - there are a lot of recipes for zucchini burgers out there as well. Maybe I'll try some with the expected zucchini crop this summer.

Anyway, the Cato Institute seems unimpressed with Donald.

What do you mean attacking Democrats? They attack themselves every time they open their mouths. No attack from outside needed. All they have to do is report.
