  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So you know. You kinda have to believe him right?

Oh! No. Actually, you probably aren't going to believe him because the good people who make death threats when people speak poorly about the IDF, do not have him on their "approved" list.

Shoot!
Boy...it's going to be really hard to find a victim of IDF aggression that the IDF is going to approve for consumption for supporters of Israel.

The middle Abrahamic-religion‘s tolerance only goes to the “past”; Jews are “okay” because Christianity had its roots in Judaism.
The final one came 500 years too late and since we’re already okay with Jews then we’re going to be okay with (modern) Israel and therefore the enemy of my friend is my enemy so how could I ever choose the “enemy” politically?

There’s not a lot of thinking beyond “my team good”, “other team bad!”.

Decency would suggest you don't get to keep attacking the neighbors of the people you're mad at (and taking over their land) just because the people you're at odds with have still failed to surrender.

If you attacked me, and I retaliated by attacking not only your property, but the property of your neighbors, after it'd already been known that I had preexisting greater ambitions of a "Greater Neighborhood" project where I already had my eyes set on taking over your neighbor's property even before your attack, it'd raise some eyebrows would it not?

The "Greater Israel" concept, which envisions a state extending from the Nile to the Euphrates was already in existence before the attacks. Which means "give me an excuse to do the thing I wanted to do anyway".

And their behaviors have proved that out.

There's a pattern of "setting up a security buffer" (IE: occupying the land of another entity), and then after they decide to push the line a little further for the "buffer", people start relocating to and inhabiting the previous "buffer zone".

The settlement expansion isn't just a figment of everyone's imagination.

Have you seen the footage of how the settlers behave?, they're obnoxious degenerates and it would make any reasonable person's blood boil with revenge fantasies of "what I'd do if someone tried to take my house like that" if it happened here.

If anyone tried to take over my property the way some of those settlers take over the property of the Palestinians (which often involves beating up elderly, women, and children...sometimes to death)...while the "authorities" stand by and watch and do nothing (or sometimes join in), I'd be letting the lead fly.

The irony is, most of the offenders practice Hasidic Judaism, which has as about as much to do with original Judaism as a ham & cheese sandwich. (the Jews of biblical times would look at modern Hasidic and Rabbinic Judaism, and not even recognize it, which makes sense given that it was invented in the late 1700's in Ukraine)
I must have asked the question wrong. Did Hamas keep the war going though continual attacking?

No, you weren’t. You only referenced his comment about toys.
That's what I said. The OP's report of exploding balls and toys. One reason why I don't plan to get into threads by you guys in the future is you all get so many things wrong in your accusations.

No public record or evidence could be found of "Ben Thompson" or any other Canadian doctor being forced by the IDF to strip naked and urinate on himself.

Jews are “okay” because of evangelical end times fantasies.

I’ve been wrong in my accusations, it’s because you’ve been extremely unclear in your wording. Or perhaps you’re genuinely confused about what the OP actually said. I honestly don’t know.

The OP made a comment about toys while also linking to a summary of an official report from the UN.

THE OP’s TOY COMMENT AND THE UN REPORT ARE SEPARATE THINGS. THE OFFICIAL UN REPORT MAKES NO MENTION OF TOYS.

I suppose that one could describe the OP’s comment as a “report.” In some contexts, that’s probably fine, but here, it strikes me as needlessly confusing given that the OP also mentions an official report and phrasing things in such a way would, as we’ve seen, make it easy to conflate the two.

Regardless, several of us have, on multiple occasions, been very explicit about referring to the official UN report, yet you continued to respond as if we were talking about the OP’s comment about toys. If you just want to talk about the toy comment, fine. That’s your business. But conflating them like this, and the ensuing confusion, is on you.

The ironic part that I noted earlier is that while the common notion is that Christianity is an extension of (or a sequel to) Judaism -- and even that I'd push back on a bit -- the common forms of Judaism practiced today (especially in the Rabbinic & Hasidic forms) would be unrecognizable to the Jews of the OT time period apart from some extraneous dietary practices.

The first writings of the Talmud didn't happen until nearly 200 years after Christianity was already established (and the later Talmudic writings didn't happen until nearly 700 years later)

Hasidic Judaism didn't show up on the scene until the 1700's (and was heavily based on books of mysticism from the 13th century)

So this idea that Christians should have some sort of sense of duty to defend Israel no matter what on the basis that's it's a Jewish state and that Christianity is somehow an extension of (or linked to) the modern day forms of Judaism, is a misguided one.

The proper and polite thing to do would have been just to ask me what I meant and if I had read the UN report.

What do you think I was doing in post 21 when I asked you, “ What's that got to do with the report in the OP, which is from the UN?”.

Explain how less than 1% of the 2.3 million living in the Gaza Strip, 3.3 million in the West Bank, and 1.9 million living in Israel amounts to genocide.

67,000 out of 7.5 million is 0.89%.

Less than 1% of the population is not genocide.

People hear buzzwords like genocide and run with it without putting any thought into it.
Sure, let's discuss this.

genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:

Killing members of the group;

Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;

Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;

Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;

Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.
That is how genocide is defined. You will note that there's the "in part" in there in several places. So you can't exactly argue "well they didn't kill EVERY single one of them, so it's not genocide". I think especially the first three parts are very pertinent to what is going on. Especially the living conditions being inflicted on with the hostilities for the civilian population. You don't think enough people have died to call it genocide? Ok. Sure. But at this point, the violence aimed at not just combatant groups but clearly civilians is so clear, added with the stated goals of expansion and of pushing Palestinians out of Gaza/West Bank, that the goals of these actions are quite clear and deserve already harsher language to better describe what is being done by the right in Israel.

Yes.

Ignore the Israeli targeting children.

That's not the problem!!

The problem is verbiage!! How dare the use the wrong word.

And now are we going to have a 5 page back and forth about thr word genocide or could we talk about Israel targeting children?
Before that the exact definition of an assault rifle needs to be discussed ad infinitum.

Most of those definitions apply to most wars that have taken place.

If Israel was out to exterminate Palestinians, there wouldn't be 2 million Palestinians living in Israel as part of Israel's society.

If one is going to put a Holocaust spin on Israel then all those Palestinians living within the borders of Israel, would have been rounded up for extermination. But that hasn't happened and isn't going to happen.

Although I won't argue that Israel would probably like to exterminate the terrorist organization called Hamas, who's responsible for what's happened in Gaza. Hamas is the group in question.

Nope...it's pure lies spread by those that hate Jews and Israel.
Does talking about Russian war crimes also constitute hate against Russia? Or in Sudan? Is that also hatred? Or are only criticism of Israel's war crimes "hatred"?
