  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

IDF Targetting children.

Utter garbage....people will believe anything....

Please, share with us the knowledge of this matter that you posses of which we are so obviously ignorant.

Fact checking organizations such as France 24's Truth or Fake, have investigated viral images of alleged booby-trapped dolls and found them to be misattributed or altered, often using footage from entirely different conflicts or regions.

What's that got to do with the report in the OP, which is from the UN?

Israel is the homeland of the Israelites.

The Levant is the homeland of many people groups with far more recent claim to the area than Israelis, most of whom descend from people whose homelands were in Europe and Asia and only emmigrated to the area in the early-mid 20th century.

Ah yes, another day where we write off the mass slaughter of children as "acceptable losses." The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Bombing and torturing them is acceptable, but a drag queen reading a story book at a library or Sesame Street posting a picture of rainbow fur are beyond the pale.

Explain how less than 1% of the 2.3 million living in the Gaza Strip, 3.3 million in the West Bank, and 1.9 million living in Israel amounts to genocide.

67,000 out of 7.5 million is 0.89%.

Less than 1% of the population is not genocide.

People hear buzzwords like genocide and run with it without putting any thought into it.
And Hitler only put 3-5% of the population in concentration camps, so I guess that wasn't a problem either. 1% of the US population is 3.5 million people, so if we were to exterminate up to 90% of gay men (which equals about 3.5 million men), I guess that wouldn't be a genocide either.

Can't talk... I'm currently standing by a women's restroom and asking them to prove they are women, not trans women.

It was acceptable to Hamas which is why they kept attacking. It's the same mentality as flying passenger planes into buildings.

Ah. So if I think you're ethnic cleansing my people, I can ethnic cleanse your children. Got it.

Choose life... But only sometimes. Sometimes children being murdered or tortured is just the price of doing business.

Fact checking shows the report is false.

What fact checking? Where?

What's your point?

My point is that your rebuttal about Israel being their homeland is specious. For most of the Jews who migrated to the region, it wasn't their homeland. If any of them had ancestors from that area, they'd left centuries, perhaps even a millenium, earlier.

It's also the homeland for the Palestinians, who were actually living there in 1948 and were displaced, and who continue to be displaced by, among other things, settlements in the West Bank.

It was acceptable to Hamas which is why they kept attacking. It's the same mentality as flying passenger planes into buildings.
What is with you guys on the Right using the most horrible groups on the planet as the benchmark for what you consider acceptable behavior? Our soldiers torture captives? Well, we're not as bad as Al Qaeda and the Taliban. Israel is needlessly killing a bunch of Palestinians? Well, what about Hamas?

What happened to having standards for the sake of the standards themselves, because they're good or right or moral? You guys are so eager to ensconse bible verses in public places, but it's like you didn't bother to actually read any of them.

People who hate Israel, who hate the Jews, will spout lies upon lies about them. That's a fact. Then, you get those that are easily led that believe in those lies...

Israel torturing, murdering and giving kids exploding toys is something that should look into objectively.

No, I have read the report. It doesn't rest at all on any claims debunked by France 24 (regarding booby trapped dolls), if that was what you were alluding to. If not what were you alluding to?

What's your point?

What makes you think the report in the OP wasn't objective? (it doesn't say anything about exploding toys)

I can't believe the utter garbage your president spouts that you all believe...even when he disproved it himself.
So there is space for this in my view as well.

Of course this particular new piece is based on thousands of pieces of evidence and first hand accounts.

But Palestinians are all liars and the overwhelming evidence of the IDF being monsters MUST be completely ignored.

Your team is so utterly the bad guys and nothing you can say will change that. You could be honest and acknowledge it though. For decency's sake.

First, the Commission finds that the killing and maiming of children through air strikes and direct targeting indicate a clear pattern where the Israeli authorities and their security forces violate basic principles of international humanitarian law, namely the principles of distinction, proportionality, necessity and precaution, all of which are applicable to Palestinian children in Gaza

Second, the Commission finds that the Israeli authorities and their security forces have systematically and deliberately mistreated Palestinian children during arrest and in detention (see further Section. IV (E). ‘Mistreatment of children during arrest and in detention’). The Commission finds that Israel, through the conduct of its authorities and security forces, has violated customary international law which obligates it, as the occupying power, to ensure the protection of children from torture, abuse or neglect (see further Section. VII (C). ‘Torture and other inhumane acts’). The Commission highlights the conditions of detention to which Palestinian children have been and are being subjected, including the refusal of medical care and lack of appropriate shelter and essentials, and finds that such conduct is abusive – both physically and mentally – against Palestinian children, which is a violation of international humanitarian law.421 Furthermore, international humanitarian law provides that children who are deprived of their liberty must be held in quarters separate from those of adults, except where they are families.422 The Commission finds that the Israeli authorities have violated such protection granted to children; on the contrary, Palestinian children endured excruciating conditions during detention which, in one case, led to death.

Third, the Commission finds that Israel has failed to protect Palestinian children in the Occupied Palestinian Territory from all forms of sexual violence. Not only did Israel as the occupying power fail to take all legislative, administrative and preventive measures to ensure such protection afforded to children; on the contrary, through its security forces, Israel has subjected children to sexual and gender-based violence during their detention

Fourth, as the occupying power, Israel has failed to facilitate the proper working of all institutions necessary for the care and education of children and to prevent the destruction of the much-needed facilities for the care of children and it has itself destroyed them.423 It has specifically ensured that these facilities were destroyed during its military campaign in Gaza, in direct violation of customary international law which requires the occupying power to facilitate the proper working of institutions dedicated to the care and education of children and prohibit any interference of such special protection for children

Fifth, the conditions of life imposed by Israel in Gaza are in direct violation of its obligation to ensure special protection of children under international humanitarian law. In relation to the displacement of children, the Commission finds that the conduct of the Israeli authorities and their security forces amounts to forcible transfer, which is a violation of customary international law.424 While displacement of the civilian population may be allowed for the security of the civilians or if imperative military reasons so demand, all possible measures must be taken to ensure that the civilians concerned are provided with support in evacuation and satisfactory conditions of shelter, hygiene, health, safety and nutrition, that members of the same family are not separated and that displaced persons have a right to return to their homes as soon as the reasons for their displacement cease to exist.425 The Commission finds that these conditions were not met; therefore, the displacement of Palestinian children in Gaza is unlawful

Ignore the Israeli targeting children.

That's not the problem!!

The problem is verbiage!! How dare the use the wrong word.

And now are we going to have a 5 page back and forth about thr word genocide or could we talk about Israel targeting children?
