Christian apologist Frank Turek says believers have no reason to fear that the discovery of aliens would somehow undermine Christianity, as public fascination with UFOs and extraterrestrial life continues to grow.

Speaking at an event at the University of Tennessee, Turek was asked how Christians should respond to ongoing discussions about aliens and unidentified flying objects, and specifically how to “talk people off the ledge” when it comes to discussions about aliens.

“Unidentified flying objects in my view are unidentified flying objects,” Turek responded. “So I don’t know if there are aliens or not. Is there intelligent life out there?”

“If there is intelligent life out there, it doesn’t affect Christianity,” he insisted. “God would still be the creator of that intelligent life.”

Turek also weighed in on the belief that extraterrestrials and UFOs are demonic by simply stating, “I don’t know.”

He added, “I’m not sure where all this is going [on], but there obviously have been some very strange happenings and no matter what it is, it’s not going to defeat Christianity because aliens, if they exist at all, are inside the universe and had to be created just like us.”

I believe our current aliens are fallen angels. However, if there are TRUE aliens out there, then yes, I believe then God made them just like he made us. The existence of aliens doesn't bring Christianity into question. I don't know why Spielberg thinks so.

This is highly speculative as we have no positive proof of the existence of aliens despite decades of searching for that evidence

1) So far travelers into outer space - human or robot - have discovered only magnificent desolation out there.
2) SETI searched for decades and picked up no signals
3) The Bible is silent about aliens and has an anthropocentric and geocentric understanding of our interaction with God.
4) Dyson spheres were meant to be the most advanced possible example of technology, but we have no evidence of these blacked out suns.
5) We have no credible scientific mechanism by which life might spontaneously arise from the "primeval soup" - abiogenesis has no supporting facts. Therefore the Drake equation is also built on foundations of sand.
6) Not one of the Pentagon sightings released recently constitutes a positive proof - it is really just a list of unexplained anomalies.
7) There are alternative explanations for alien sightings in angels and demons.

If aliens were important to us then God would have told us something about them. Maybe in the lifespan he has envisaged for our history we will never meet them and therefore they are irrelevant to us here and now. Maybe they do not exist at all.

The best arguments in favor of aliens are the size of the universe and the creativity of God. We have nothing to fear from their discovery. The real question is more why people in the modern age want so badly for them to be real.

Which is only an argument at all if you believe that life just randomly arises by way of environmental accidents. If you believe that life was created by an all-powerful Deity, then the size of the universe is altogether irrelevant.

I'm not making a point either way about extra-terrestrial life in the sense of being "carbon based", but there definitely are "aliens" in the form of spiritual beings who surround us all the time.

But they usually remain hidden. Sometimes God and / or spiritual beings let us know they are there, but it doesn't happen very often.

As for extraterrestrial life, if it does appear, it would throw a temporary curve ball at some of our theology, but we'd get around it.

I'm cynically amazed at how our highly educated citizens see some finger patterns on a cave wall put there by spraying chewed clay out of ancient mouths, or happen across some primitive flint blades, and they cry "a sign of Intelligent life!"

But point to the incredible complexity of DNA, the necessity for complicated enzymes for most of our biological reactions, the incredible ability of our brains to make sense of everything, and the way we can handle advanced maths without any day to day need to do so, often developing mathematical theorems years before they're needed, and they tell us all it "just happened if you give it enough time".
