Meet me with grace, I do not wish to create division nor confusion, so please be kind.
I have had many revelations, praise God, with equal conviction. However one topic continues to elude my understanding & until it can be made clear by Jesus I have settled on this: Unitarians & Trinitarians worship the same God. I believe both identities are attempts by men to explain the nature of our Lord of Hosts & both fail to categorically fit God into a box that makes sense.
Let me be clear. I do not doubt Gods’ oneness; I refuse to drift towards pluralism. Trinitarianism attempts to protect Christ’s divinity at the expense of dividing God into persons. Unitarianism attempts to protect Gods’ oneness at the expense of not being able to clarify the dynamic nature of Christ. Both try to defend something true. Both end up filing into philosophical categories - falling outside the lines of biblical truth. Neither system is big enough for the God of Scripture.
This I know because the Word tells me so: One God; One Spirit; One Name; One Throne; One Christ; One Truth. Both systems agree, to deny this, is actual heresy. So the object of worship is the same! Why not admit that the glory of who He is exceeds your understanding? This is my tension; forgive me God.
I often think of the story of Melchizedek. Abraham knew God as El Shaddai; Melchizedek knew God as El Elyon. Two different men, from two different lands, with two different backgrounds, & two different titles. Yet they worshipped the same One God. Revelation always outgrows our understanding. The only title that fully describes God is the one He gave Himself: I AM. Every other title is a window.
“And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.”
Zechariah 14:9 KJV
Until that day, I refuse to use man made inventions to describe my God. I will not add to the word. I will not interpret what is not there. I will not limit His glory. I will use precisely His word & nothing more. If that does not suffice; I will sooner question your heart. For me, this has given me peace, as I do not have to worry about offending the Creator of Heaven & Earth. I only wish to give Him honor; I do not suspect He will be concerned about how I defined Him seeing that I only ever defined Him by His own word.
God bless; may you all find peace.
