  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A United Nations report has confirmed what Israel and Palestinian activists have claimed for a long time: Hamas is brutally oppressing the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip, enforcing its rule by instilling fear through public murder and torture of alleged criminals and dissidents.

The new report was presented to the U.N. Human Rights Council on Tuesday by the “Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel.”

Its central conclusion is that Palestinians in Judea, Samaria and the Gaza Strip are “subjected to severe violations of human rights law by all parties to the region’s conflict.” The report lists alleged abuses by Israeli settlers next to abuses committed by Hamas terrorists, suggesting an equality between the two groups.

It ultimately blames Israel even for Hamas’ brutality. “Hamas-affiliated forces have exploited the vacuum created by relentless Israeli attacks and widespread destruction of Gaza,” said Srinivasan Muralidhar, chair of the commission.

Doubtful imo.
Sadly, I agree. In fact most Americans are probably totally unaware of Hamas murdering and torturing Gazans.

Well even when it is brought to attention it is generally ignored. Kind of a plugging of one’s ears and repeating la la la because it goes against their ideologies. There are many examples.

"Benjamin Netanyahu had been Israel's prime minister for most of the two decades preceding the Gaza War and was criticized for having championed a policy of empowering Hamas in Gaza. This policy was part of a strategy to sabotage a 2 state solution by confining the Palestinian Authority to the West Bank and weakening it, and to demonstrate to the Israeli public and western governments that Israel has no partner for peace. This criticism was leveled by several Israeli officials, including former prime minister Ehud Barak, and former head of Shin Bet, security services Yuval Diskin l, Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian Authority were also critical of Israel under Netanyahu allowing suitcases of Qatari money to be given to Hamas, in exchange for maintaining the ceasefire. An op-ed by Tal Schneider for the Times of Israel reported after the Hamas attack that Netanyahu's policy to treat the Palestinian Authority as a burden and Hamas as an asset had "blown up in our faces.""

1) As Israel's longest serving Prime Minister (1996 to 1999, 2009 to 2021, 2022 to present), Netanyahu and the Israeli government tolerated and even encouraged Hamas as long as it made no attempt to unite with the West Bank and establish a Palestinian state!

2) This was despite the fact that America had designated Hamas a "terrorist organization" in 1996 - the European Union followed in 2001, the Organization of American States in 2021 plus a number of democracies around the world!

2) Netanyahu never expressed concern, however, as to the lengths Hamas was willing to remain in power by brutally suppressing the Palestinian population!

3) Despite Hama's violent rhetoric,, Netanyahu remained under the illusion that he could manage this Palestinian enclave in Gaza on Israel's border - despite the fact being under the control of a recognized terrorist organization!

4) Maintaining the "status quo" of 2 dramatically different Palestinian ruling authorities appeared to be an ongoing situation that in Netanyahu's opinion would best served Israel's interests!

5) Given that the Palestinian Authority (West Bank) and Hamas (Gaza) had expressed no intention of sharing power in a unified Palestinian state, Netanyaha's sponsoring a known terrorist group in Gaza appeared to be "the lesser of 2 evils!"

6) The Netanyahu government's withdrawal of the Israeli military, to quell civil unrest unrest resulting from Israelis from establishing illegal residences in the West Bank, demonstrated that Hamas was not seen as not posing a serious threat as to thise settlers located along the Gaza border who were left to "the "tender mercies" of a designated terrorist group, on the other side!

7) Clearly the Netanyahu Administration had totally underestimated Hamas - its military response was further delayed by an inability to determine the magnitude of the attack and a disbelief as to the extent that Hama's motives had been misjudged!

There is a different possibility that groups ( primarily led by former Israeli PM Ehud Barak) saying Netanyahu nourished Hamas are actually hiding their own involvement with Hamas. There is a report from Reason magazine ( that I have linked via yahoo news) that Barak working with porn trafficker Jeffrey Epstein arranged a Qatari funding scheme with Hamas.

Barak & Epstein were part of a faction working outside of official circles that wanted to avert a war in 2017 between Saudi Arabia and Qatar because of Qatari support to Houti rebels ( who are presently allies of Iran & Hamas).

There is a theory that Jeffrey Epstein that was an official Israeli agent. Both Ehud Barak and Benjamin Netanyahu interestingly deny this. Barak, it seems, has to deny this but Netanyahu calls out Barak’s likely collusion with Epstein.

So there are 2 factions involved: Netanyahu and former PM Barak. Barak is part of one saying Netanyahu’s helped create Hamas but there are reports that say Barak helped undermine the 2000 Camp David Accords.

1) Several former members of Benjamin Netanyahu's administration have accused Netanyahu of policies that propped up, funded, or supported Hamas. - Netanyahu has denied it but sources included former Ministers in his own Cabinet

- former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett,

= former Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman

- former Defence Minister Moshe Ya'alon,

- former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert

2) Cash Transfers to Gaza: F
- former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has stated publicly that when he took office in 2021, he attempted to halt his predecessors "cash suitcases" policy—allowing millions of dollars from Qatar to enter Hamas-controlled Gaza

=former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert confirms Bebbett's revelations, also accusing Netanyahu of allowing money from Arab sources to reach Hamas which financed weapons for its military wing, build miles of tunnels and increase financial reserves

- Netanyahu's policies provided no guarantees that these "cash suitcases" funnelling $ millions to NAMAS, was financing what much of the world had determined to be a terrorist organization

=facilitating the acquisition of weapons that could be used against the Israeli military

The "Divide and Conquer" Strategy:
- critics that had served in the Netanyahu Administration have argued the Prime Minister was serving as an"ENABLER! - intentionally maintaining Hamas as a strong, viable counterweight to the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank

- the primary goal is to prevent a unified Palestinian leadership that could press for a two-state solution - a strategy -allowing Hamas access to $ millions may actually create a greater threat to Israel than the 2 state option

Arming Rival Factions:
- former Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman has severely criticized Netanyahu for allegedly supplying weapons to specific clans and factions in Gaza

- given that HAMAS is not the only Palestinian group that is vying for power in Gaza, as the most powerful faction it would be constantly attempting to suppress the other factions intent on replacing it

- providing different groups with the means of buying weapons ensures that Israel shares a common border with 2.13 million Palestinians subjected to a perpetual state of political instability

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

The ,most vocal criticism of Netanyahu are former Prime Ministers who inherited his "cash suitcases" strategy and 2 former Ministers of Defence who had served in Netanyahu's Cabinet - despite his denials, they know where all "THE SKELETONS ARE BURIED!"

So from what I have read on wiki, it seems like a long term Israeli strategy of trying to fight Palestinian terrorism backfired by supporting Islamist militants against secular nationalists. Israel thought they could use Qatar as a presentable middleman to help make social welfare payments for the people in Gaza.

Whatever mistakes Israel did make it seem like they actually had more pragmatic concern for social welfare in Gaza than whoever were the Palestinian political leaders. Netanyahu is a hardliner but he carried on a policy that preceded him in an Israeli establishment has become so divided and perhaps no longer capable of internal cooperation ( like the USA now is).

It seems strange that a faction with people like Ehud Barak point fingers at Netenyahu towards the Palestinians. Barak obstructed the 2000 accords where the last shreds of secular Palestinian rebel groups ( like the PLO) dissolved.

Hamas is an evil jinn spreading jihad and the people under it are secondary and those who will not submit are to be eliminated.
