  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

But the California law is that ballots postmarked on election day can be counted. Speedy results is not more important than having accessiblity to vote.

I wonder how the Republicans of today would deal with elections that took so long, the President was Inaugurated in March rather than January as it is now? That is they way it was prior to 1937 because election results took so long to get counted.
Lots of countries still count all their ballots by hand every election and get it done in time.

I think it’s time to put a new amendment in the Constitution. States get to control state elections, the federal government gets to control federal elections. When each state gets to set boundaries that interfere with federal elections, then it is time to take that privilege away from them.

First get rid of the electoral college since that is state control of the Presidential vote.

I don’t live my life hating people like some do. Finding nothing but nastiness in the world, refusing to see the good others outside their own ideological beliefs have done.

Trump is the first person in a long list of recent presidents who has been for America first, and actually spends time talking to, and listening to, everyday people. I know the left doesn’t like policies that put Americans first, or policies that keep American’s safe, or policies that try to lower the federal footprint in our lives (both politically and economically), y’all fight those things tooth and nail, but lots of us appreciate it.
It’s interesting that people still believe this when his words and actions betray this idea daily.

Let’s just get rid of Congress, too. The electoral college is based on the same representation we have for Congress.

Let’s do it now!

California is larger that most of those countries.
States do get to control elections and the LA mayor election was a state election.

Agree. It is Trump first. He is making money and his children are making money, which most Americans struggle to buy gas, pay for food, and find a job that isn't minimum wage.

There are very simple answers to your questions. Have you made an honest attempt to find the answers? Or would you rather dwell in your conspiracies.
And those simple answers are?
Mail in ballots are safe, verified, and result in higher voter participation
All of theses people listed have made statements in the past pointing out the vulnerabilities in mail in voting. Jimmy Carter, Dianne Feinstein, Barack Obama, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz. Billy Clinton, Dianne Feinstein, Zoe Lofgren, Al Gore, Barbara Boxer, Richard Durbin, Alex Padilla, Gavin Newsom.
Unfortunately for Republicans, higher voter participation favors Democrats so instead of admitting Republican policies are not favorable to the majority, they claim, fraud and stolen elections.
No one is against high voter participation but they need to be legal voters using legitimate ballots. These states have sent out ballots without them being requested by voters , nothing to see there , no possible chance for fraud.

Trump and his family made money before during and after his being President. No one in the past has taken a vow of poverty before serving in public office. Have Pelosi and Omar made any money while in office? How many politicians besides Trump can you name that donate their salary to charity?

Who is saying no chance for fraud? That is never the argument, but the opposing argument is that mailed ballots are being used in coordinated efforts to steal elections. I haven’t seen any explanation on how that is supposed to work despite the claims that it is obvious and out in the open.

Which of the states listed above is having major issues with fraud due to sending everyone a ballot? Have you looked into the security and verification process for any of these states?

If I had allowed the wool to be pulled over my eyes I'd at least have the grace to feel sheepish about it.
Apparently the illegitimate, politically biased Jan 6 committee pulled a lot of wool.

Laziness is not a legitimate reason for mail in voting. Handicaped persons, military abroad, people who work abroad or because of travel have a legitimate reason to REQUEST a mail in ballot. Random mailing of ballots should be made illegal Federally.

Steve Hilton Breaks With Trump’s ‘Rigged’ Election Claims, Says He’s ‘Seen Nothing’ to Justify Intervention | Video

"We're feeling as confident as we ever have been that I'm going to make the top two," the Trump-backed gubernatorial candidate adds

During Monday's broadcast for CNN's "OutFront," the Trump-backed Republican was asked by host Erin Burnett point-blank about the president's claims that both the Los Angeles mayoral race and the California gubernatorial race were "rigged."

"I've been saying all along that we take it very seriously because we don't want to let people down," Hilton told Burnett. "And we're being very vigilant on it. We're keeping an eye on it. We've got teams standing by, lawyers standing by. And, actually, it's the same answer that I've been giving for a few days now. We've seen nothing that would give us cause to intervene in that way."

Do you mean the fraudulent voting systems of democratic majority states? That is what is happening with mail in ballots! Just look at California it is happening right In front of our eyes. Why is it democrat majority states feel the need for mail in ballots if not to cheat?
We believe voting should be easier and available to as many voters as possible, not harder and limited to the very few. The more people that participate in the democratic process, the better.

Or we could let the states decide how they wish to run their elections. What works for one state doesn’t necessarily work for another. That’s why we have the system we have.

Let states run state and local elections but there needs to be some Federal uniformity for Federal elections.

Trump has made a great deal since being president this time. He funnels money to his son's companies. Examples:

Investors have pumped vast sums into Trump family members’ business interests. Projects such as the White House ballroom are being funded by donors who have dealings with the government. Agencies have granted no-bid contracts to Trump-friendly firms. And in the 19 months since his election, the personal fortunes of the president and his family have soared.....
Last week, investigative news outlet ProPublica reported that the White House had intervened last year to get a $620 million deal for an obscure rare earth magnet company with ties to Donald Trump Jr. The president’s son denied involvement, according to the report, which cites an unnamed Pentagon official as saying it was White House trade adviser Peter Navarro who intervened on behalf of the company.
A drone company in which Mr. Trump’s older sons had an investment stake also received a Pentagon contract. Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump have also announced a variety of lucrative real-estate and cryptocurrency deals in the U.S. and places such as the Middle East that stand to benefit both them and their father.....
The president himself drew attention last month when his latest federal financial disclosure form revealed more than 3,700 stock trades in just the first three months of this year – transactions totaling tens of millions of dollars.
His company, the Trump Organization, has stated that his investment holdings are managed by an independent third party.
Even so, such trading in individual stocks by a sitting president is unheard of in the modern era. And the news stirred a host of new questions about apparent conflicts of interest.
One example: Mr. Trump bought more than $1 million in Dell Technologies stock early this year, around the same time that he also urged Americans to “go out and buy a Dell.” This also came after company founder Michael Dell and his wife announced a $6.25 billion donation to fund U.S. government “Trump Accounts” for children. Last week, the Pentagon announced a $9.7 billion contract with the company.
Historians are going to be busy figuring out all the financial ways Trump and family have benefitted from the presidency in way no other President did. As I see, no president has been as crooked as this one, not even Nixon.

Who cares what reason a person has for wanting a mail in ballot. And laziness? Come on, just not voting at all could be called lazy, but taking the time to vote by mail is not laziness.

My experience is with Colorado. It’s not random mailing of ballots, all registered voters receive a ballot by mail. There are multiple options on how to return it- mail, drop box, in person, also available is in person voting at a polling location. How “lazy” of my state to give ample time and opportunity to vote. What a travesty to increase voter participation.

That's your opinion.

How ballots are handled is constitutionally a state power.
