Lots of countries still count all their ballots by hand every election and get it done in time. But the California law is that ballots postmarked on election day can be counted. Speedy results is not more important than having accessiblity to vote.
I wonder how the Republicans of today would deal with elections that took so long, the President was Inaugurated in March rather than January as it is now? That is they way it was prior to 1937 because election results took so long to get counted.
I think it’s time to put a new amendment in the Constitution. States get to control state elections, the federal government gets to control federal elections. When each state gets to set boundaries that interfere with federal elections, then it is time to take that privilege away from them.
