  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

There are three churches found in scripture.

THE CHURCH IN THE WILDERNESS
[Acts 7:38 KJV] "This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and [with] our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us:" ********* This is the congregation of the children of Israel.

THE CHURCH IN JERUSALEM
[Matthew 18:17 KJV] "And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell [it] unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican."

[Acts 8:1 KJV] "And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles." ********* This is the church in Jerusalem headed by Peter and the apostles.

THE CHURCH THE BODY OF CHRIST
[1 Corinthians 12:27 KJV] "Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular."

[1 Corinthians 12:28 KJV] "And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues." ******** The church for our dispensation was revealed to Paul. Paul is our apostle and Lord Jesus Christ is the head

Yours is a worthy analysis, but since these churches are separated by time, would it not be more plausible to view them as one Church in different stages of her development ?
Just saying that the word. CHURCH is EKKLESIA And should be translated ASSEMBLY !!

There are far more than three churches in Scripture. The word translated "church" is used in two ways, first, to mean all who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and are saved, as for example when Paul wrote:

(Eph 5:25) Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,

In that sense, there is only one church.

Then it is used to refer to a local group of Christians who meet together to worship God. There are many of those mentioned in Scripture - the church at Corinth, the church in Jerusalem, the church in Cenchrea, etc.

That translation would only apply if we assume the Church consists of multiple assemblies, while in reality there is One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
Christ established a kingdom, not a democracy. If we claim unity, yet preach division, would we not then be “double minded”?

In the Old Testament, there was only one Israel, even though she strayed from the faith and had many evil kings, God did not abandon Israel and gave multiple suitors. There was also only one
But for human stubbornness, so too in the New Testsment
