  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump dismantles critical ocean-floor observation network

Trump Administration Invests in Removing Ocean Research Instruments

Dismay as Trump officials to dismantle key ocean monitoring system
What is the saying? " Ignorance is bliss"?
This famous poet concluded that ignorance is actually one's demise. Lines up perfectly with scriptures as well.

"War on science"?

Was there "war on science" in 1993, when President Bill Clinton signed the bill that killed the multi-billion dollar particle accelerator and officially directed the Department of Energy to oversee the shutdown, salvage, and land liquidation process?

How about also in 1993 when Senator Richard Bryon pulled the plug on SETI?

SETI isn't really science.

SETI isn't really science.

From AI Overview:

SETI (the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) is a legitimate scientific field. It uses the scientific method to search for "technosignatures"—observable evidence of technology, such as radio waves or laser pulses, that cannot be produced by natural processes.

It's amazing how many people are against gaining knowledge that could help future generations. How insanely selfish that is.

Nice try trying to make us feel bad.

Won't work.

I would defend the majority of people in this context whom you define as "insanely selfish". I think a more plausible explanation is that they are individuals who lacked a sound education, never received any instruction in critical thinking, are naturally gullible and have the decks stacked against them on the intellect front. When one is in a hole that deep then intuitive acts of survival, based on ones field of view, will almost certainly appear selfish. Unfortunately their anti-intellectual position just deepens the hole for the next generation. Positive feedback in action.

At least with regards to the folks making the decisions in the OP, they definitely do not have the decks stacked against them.

Willful ignorance

I don't need a $370 million ocean-floor observatory network to give me climate data on coastal environments, marine ecosystems, and powerful global ocean currents.

All I need do is go stand out in Tumon Beach for five minutes and get all the information I want for free.

Confucius is in Aitch.
Aitch is the formal, written name for the letter H (or h).
1780666442592.png
Merriam-Webster +1
Depending on the context, it can refer to a few different things:

  • The Alphabet: It is simply the way you spell out the eighth letter of the English alphabet (e.g., "The word hour starts with an aitch").
  • The Rapper:It is the stage name for the popular British rapper Aitch (born Harrison Armstrong), derived from his first initial, "H"
    .

He means Hell. AV is saying that Confucius is in Hell.

It is incredible that climate scientists never thought of that.
Science can take a hike to Tumon Beach.
