  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump administration officials have pushed the office tasked with printing the nation's money to move forward with designing a commemorative $250 bill with President Donald Trump's portrait and signature, should legislation to create the new currency pass, according to two people with knowledge of the discussions.

It would mark the first time a living person has appeared on U.S. currency in more than 150 years. As of now, federal law explicitly states only deceased people can appear on United States currency.

Will the reverse feature the Big Beautiful Ballroom or the Arc de Trump?

People tend to worship people big time. Personally I don't care. I prefer flowers on my money, over people. But, that's just me. Do they have bills with the Native Americans. Because they should. I just think if Trump gets his picture gets on a bill. Only Trump supporters will get it. Then they will go out of circulation. Then it will become collector's ite for Trump supporters.

Isn't going to a $250 bill a sign of a weakening dollar?
Hardly! We already have $500 and $1000 notes, and even $5000 and $10,000. They existed long ago.

All I know is when countries start printing bigger and bigger bills, it's usually because their currency is collapsing and dollars don't go as far as they used to.

Seeing that the $500 and higher denominations were actually discontinued in 1969, it would seem that there could be other reasons why higher denomination bills are introduced or discontinued.

I wonder why.
As of now, federal law explicitly states only deceased people can appear on United States currency.
Ah.

So they're breaking the law. That's no surprise.

I just want to know how a country that sticks so resolutely to an incomprehensible system of measures including miles, pounds, ounces, tons, yards, degrees Fahrenheit and guns per acre managed to get a metric currency system.

That was the best photo of the man they could find? Treasury out here doing him dirty, lol.
As far as I can tell, that's his official photo. It's on his webpage of the white house.

I am sure that he looks "tough" to his supporters.

It's his mug shot from 2023 which he made into his official portrait.

He looked a lot happier on the official photo during his first term. But I understand, he's a wartime president, so he needs to put on his "mean face".

Are all the homeless Veterans housed?
Has the USA climbed in the PISA ranking?
Is the Strait of Hormuz open?
Is the fentanyl crisis solved?
Has there been a week without any mass shooting?
Has every American access to affordable health care?

Me thinks, your country has bigger issues than that.

Well a dollar doesn't go as far as it used to in any major nation's currency. And the penny has been retired in various countries. But I don't think this proposal has anything to do with the economy. It's a $250 bill for the 250th anniversary birthday of America. Which would most likely be printed in a limited amount like the $2 bill that came out in 1976. Those are still in circulation but how often have you had one in your pocket money? So I doubt any of us would end up with one as part of the daily currency we use. Personally there's only been a handful of times I've had anything larger than a $20 bill in regular spending cash.

I think also it could be him using his mug shot as an official portrait as a way of sticking it to his enemies. And also maybe to be viewed as the portrait of a martyr.
