  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Stop telling lies!

John 3:36 (W.E.B.) One who believes in the Son has eternal life, but one who disobeys the Son won’t see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.”

It's not "has eternal life promised to him"; but, "has eternal life". Whether you believe this Scripture or not, you should not be lying about what it states. If you continue deliberately to misrepresent what Scripture states like this, then you will go on "ignore".

John 5:24 “Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word, and believes him who sent me, has eternal life, and doesn’t come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

John 6:47 Most certainly, I tell you, he who believes in me has eternal life.

1 John 5:11,12

11 The testimony is this, that God gave to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He who has the Son has the life. He who doesn’t have God’s Son doesn’t have the life.

The eternal life he has is the Holy Spirit who is presently living within him. If he disobeys, the Holy Spirit stops living within him, and he no longer has eternal life .

Who has God's Son, via the the Holy Spirit (eternal life)? Only the people who obey his commandments have eternal life (the Holy Spirit) abiding in them.

Hebrews 5:9
And once made perfect, he became for all those who obey him the source of eternal salvation,

1 John 3:15
Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

Acts 5:32
And we are witnesses of these events, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”

What happens to the people who disobey the Holy Spirit of truth?

Romans 2:8
but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury
.

Hebrews 10:29-30
How much greater punishment do you think will be deserved by the one who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was made holy, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know the one who said, “Vengeance belongs to me, I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”

"Everlasting life" is not the same thing as the Holy Spirit. Jesus said:

(Joh 17:3) And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

He was praying to His heavenly Father, not the Holy Spirit.
The three, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, are one God. One of these cannot act alone without the other two participating.

Father: Thought.

Son: Word.

Holy Spirit: Power/Action.

Genesis 1:26
Then God said: Let us make human beings in our image, after our likeness.

I didn't say that belief can be separated from obedience. Obedience shows that our belief is genuine.

A person can say that he believes or that he knows God, but he can be lying. If he disobeys God's commandments, he does not believe in him or know him. The Holy Spirit does not abide/remain in liars.

1 John 2:4
Whoever says, “I know him,” but does not keep his commandments is a liar, and the truth
(Holy Spirit) is not in him.

If a person does not know God, then God cannot abide in him. God's abiding presence is the only source of eternal life (aka everlasting life). The Father and the Son can only abide in a person's soul via the Holy Spirit's presence; therefore, we have eternal life if the Holy Spirit is abiding in us.

So, you think that you can be saved, then lost, then saved, then lost, then saved, then lost - all dependent upon your works.

The Bible says that he who has begun a good work in us will complete until the day of Jesus Christ. Do you not realise that you are misunderstanding/misapplying the scriptures you've quoted?

Those who profess to believe in Jesus Christ, but who do not bear good fruit, were never his.

John 17:3 (N.K.J.V.) And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.

Matt. 7:22,23
(N.K.J.V.)
22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’
23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

These fake Christians did not have eternal life, then lost it; rather, as you can see, they never knew the Lord in the first place, so never had eternal life.

If we listen to and obey the Holy Spirit, we will not fall away. If we ignore him, we can fall away, later repent, and therefore be saved again.

We can, at any time, choose for ourselves whom we will serve: God, Satan, our passions, or the world's expectations for success.

God will complete a good work in us until the day of Jesus Christ if we continue to obey his commandments. He will not force us to obey him.

Scripture does not state what you believe to be true.

A person can become righteous, later choose to become wicked, and then repent and become righteous again. We alone determine our actions for as long as we live. God does not force us to do good or evil.

Ezekiel 33:10-17
Now you, mortal, say to the house of Israel, Thus you have said: “Our transgressions and our sins weigh upon us, and we waste away because of them; how then can we live?” 11 Say to them, As I live, says the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from their ways and live; turn back, turn back from your evil ways; for why will you die, O house of Israel? 12 And you, mortal, say to your people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not save them when they transgress; and as for the wickedness of the wicked, it shall not make them stumble when they turn from their wickedness; and the righteous shall not be able to live by their righteousness when they sin. 13 Though I say to the righteous that they shall surely live, yet if they trust in their righteousness and commit iniquity, none of their righteous deeds shall be remembered; but in the iniquity that they have committed they shall die. 14 Again, though I say to the wicked, “You shall surely die,” yet if they turn from their sin and do what is lawful and right— 15 if the wicked restore the pledge, give back what they have taken by robbery, and walk in the statutes of life, committing no iniquity—they shall surely live, they shall not die. 16 None of the sins that they have committed shall be remembered against them; they have done what is lawful and right, they shall surely live.

God knows which people are his own. His people are still obedient to him at the time of their death.

We can know that these people did wicked things and didn't repent of them before they died, and that is why they were denied eternal life.

You keep twisting and ignoring some things that the Bible says, because they do not suit your narrative. Salvation is by grace through faith, not of works lest anyone should boast.

I'm going to stop flogging the dead horse now.

We cannot earn our initial salvation from God, but we can prevent ourselves from inheriting eternal life with God after we die.

Unless we do the things that God the Father expects us to do for others,
we will not be approved to inherit eternal life. Matthew 25:31-46

Ephesians 2:8-10
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God— 9 not the result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.

Matthew 7:21

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father in heaven.

I can lead a horse to water, but I cannot make it drink. :)
