  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is the moral difference between running concentration camps here and paying another country to put our prisoners in their concentration camp?
Lower staff wages in foreign countries.
Might as well save some money while trafficking people.

Far less congressional oversight too. Can’t have the people finding out too quickly what their tax dollars are doing to others.

There is no moral difference. It's more out of sight out of mind. Meaning it's not really happening.

Abrego Garcia, who is married to a U.S. citizen and has a 5-year-old disabled child who is also a U.S. citizen, has no criminal record in the United States, according to his attorney.
This is precisely the sort of immigrant that the Trump Administration targets for removal. The Obama policy of targeting dangerous criminals first, is now completely reversed.

Trump administration seeks to move ahead with removing Abrego Garcia to Liberia

Although Abrego Garcia has said he's willing to be sent to Costa Rica, Acting Immigrations and Customs Enforcement Director Todd Lyons said in a memo filed in court that he has "decided to disregard" that request and intends to send him to Liberia if Abrego Garcia is ordered removed from the U.S.

Judge blocks Trump’s push to deport Abrego Garcia, rebukes DOJ for trying to ‘dictate’ court

Xinis blocked the Trump administration's bid to deport Abrego Garcia to Liberia, for now — the latest in a 13-month legal fight

U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis took umbrage at the government's demand that she rule by mid-April on their request for her to dissolve her injunction keeping Abrego Garcia in the U.S. for now, and allowing them to deport him to Liberia.

She sharply disputed the Justice Department's assertion that the court "must" rule by that date, at risk of having the injunction ignored.

"Respondents cannot dictate the Court’s schedule or the outcome of the motion," Xinis said. "Nor can they appeal a judicial order that does not exist."

Xinis, who has presided over Abrego Garcia's civil cases for the last 13 months, has developed a reputation for her careful, methodological style of questioning — a process she previously likened to "eating an elephant, one bite at a time." But the laborious review process has sparked criticism from Trump allies and Justice Department lawyers alike, who have expressed frustration with the lengthy timeline and what they argue are undue delays to removal efforts.

Still, Xinis' unusually pointed order lays out what the judge described as a "careful recapitulation" of the case history, before concluding that "if anyone, Respondents bear the responsibility for substantial delay."

Kilmar Abrego Garcia back in US to face charges of helping traffic 'thousands' of migrants

A two-count indictment, alleges Abrego Garcia, 29, participated in a yearslong conspiracy to haul undocumented migrants from Texas to the interior of the country.

Abrego-Garcia is the only member of the alleged conspiracy charged in the new indictment. A conspiracy of one, eh?

Judge dismisses criminal charges against Kilmar Abrego Garcia in human trafficking case

A federal judge wrote that the investigation against Abrego in Tennessee was reopened to justify the administration’s decision to deport him to El Salvador.

A federal judge in Tennessee dismissed the criminal charges against Kilmar Abrego Garcia on Friday, finding that the investigation into his alleged involvement with human trafficking was “tainted.”

“The objective evidence here shows that, absent Abrego’s successful lawsuit challenging his removal to El Salvador, the Government would not have brought this prosecution,” U.S. District Judge Waverly Crenshaw wrote in his decision.

Indeed, the Trump administration prefers to deport illegals rather than prosecute them here to save the taxpayers money. People need to start focusing on and remembering the victims of human trafficking.

Perhaps you have forgotten that Mister Garcia was mistakenly deported in the first place?

Trump administration concedes Maryland father from El Salvador was mistakenly deported and sent to mega prison

The Trump administration conceded in a court filing Monday that it mistakenly deported a Maryland father to El Salvador “because of an administrative error” and argued it could not return him because he’s now in Salvadoran custody.

It can do either one as long as it stays within the law, but it's failed on both counts in this case.

Trump, before the election, promised that if he regained power, he would use it to go after people he didn't like. One of the few times he wasn't lying.

Another rogue judge. He was deported to the wrong country, there was a protective order banning him from being deported to El Salvador. This guy trafficked a lot of people and needs to be held accountable. Garcia, and anyone else, should be prosecuted on the merits of the case rather than whether he is associated with a Democratic Party cause. Hopefully an upper court will soon allow his trial to begin.

That qualifies as human trafficking, since the Trump administration deliberately tried to keep him in that Salvadoran prison.

That doesn't apply here. Abrego Garcia was being prosecuted by the Trump administration until today when a *judge* (not the DOJ) ended the prosecution by dismissing the charges.
People need to start focusing on and remembering the victims of human trafficking.
No sustainable charge here. No identifiable victims.

Having not keep up that much with this, perhaps someone can answer my question: What is preventing the Trump administration from simply deporting him?

As far as I understand--someone is free to correct me--there isn't any dispute about his illegality, and that can allow for deportation. The reason there was all this hubbub was because due to some kind of error, they deported him to El Salvador, which they couldn't deport him to because of an earlier judge ruling (as I understand it, he successfully argued he would be in danger from gang violence). But the whole problem there was that he couldn't be deported to El Salvador. There are other countries. What is preventing them from deporting him to those? Are they simply unable to find another country that will allow him to be deported to them?
