  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

California seized a Christian woman’s teenage daughter for opposing her “gender transition,” and now the state is moving to put the girl up for adoption.

Alexandra Lyashchenko, an Orthodox Christian and legal Ukrainian immigrant, lost custody of her then-15-year-old daughter in 2024 after rejecting her “sudden desire to transition.”

Lyashchenko told NTD that California is “deciding that my daughter is going to be adopted out.”

Her family was “forced out of California” and is now “hiding in Florida” because California also wants her younger son, she added.

The far-left state has legally separated the girl and her parents, according to Lyashchenko.

She also said that she believes that her daughter was sexually assaulted in the foster system, noting that the girl was housed with boys due to her supposed “gender identity.”

Its why if you are a Christian family never put your children in public school in California. Its why if you are a Christian with children or if you love and care about your children, move out of California.

There are two sides to the story and we only know one side because the state cannot share it with the public. The public is in a factual vacuum. I am certain that the state of California has exercised all options with the parents leading them to decide the safest course of action for the juvenile.
Most likely the child was suicidal.

There are many medical and psychological treatments for suicidal teenagers that do not involve the state kidnapping a child. California has a progressive agenda problem which seriously threatens the rights of the parents. They are in essence destroying a family. There are several pending lawsuits against California regarding parental rights (or the lack of) including Mirabelli vs Bonita and several from the Center for American Liberty. I pray that the courts resolve this on the side of the parents.

It's interesting how a lifesaving action is deemed unnecessary. Clearly those who oppose such an intervention are not researching what is happening in the states that have strict laws against gender affirming care. You may be surprised to know......

This kind of increase cannot be ignored.

A Christian doctor challenges the validity of a study that claims transgender suicide attempts increased with what are called anti transgender laws. I have only glanced at it for now.

The issue here is the erosion of parental rights. The parents are responsible to raise their child as they see fit without government interference. The parents get to choose the proper medical care for their children not the state. The parents have the right to know that their children are expressing gender dysphoria. The parents have the right to know that their children are considering life altering therapies suggested by the schools and counselors. The parents have right to choose which treatments to pursue not the state or the school or the counselors. And no, it is not hateful nor a crime to follow the parent’s beliefs when considering options for therapy if any.

I completely understand why a parent who is against gender affirmation would do everything in their power to stop their child from such a change! But if my child, and this is me personally, was depressed, isolated and suicidal due to my actions, I could never forgive myself. It is clear in this situation that it had to move on to such a drastic action as " removal". Obviously the child was under duress. You can't leave a child in that kind of environment which is why they intervene. The child is not without a voice here. If they are claiming suicide by all means , the state needs to take over.

One Christian doctor does not override a complete peer review. You really need to do the research. This research passed all tests for validity in fact, this is the only way it could have been published in PubMed .

When a study appears on PubMed, it signifies that the article has been published in a recognized scientific journal that has met the strict quality and ethical standards required to be indexed in the U.S. government's primary medical repository.
For a study to be included in this archive, it must pass multiple distinct layers of professional verification:
* **Rigorous Peer Review:** Before the article is ever accepted by a journal like *Nature Human Behaviour*, independent experts in the exact same field critically evaluate the data, research design, and statistical methods to ensure accuracy and eliminate bias.
* **Government Quality Benchmarks:** The National Library of Medicine utilizes an expert advisory committee to review journals before allowing them into the database. They evaluate the journal's editorial standards, the scientific quality of its content, and its adherence to strict ethical publishing guidelines.
* **Academic Accountability:** Once indexed, the research is preserved in a public, standardized format. This transparency allows the global scientific community to scrutinize, replicate, or build upon the data.
Therefore, pointing to a study's presence on PubMed is a reliable way to demonstrate that the data has been thoroughly vetted, adheres to established scientific principles, and is recognized as legitimate medical literature by federal research institutions.
To better understand how the government curates this data, you can explore this overview on PubMed and MEDLINE Indexing Standards.

And that one side is LifeSiteNews, which, IME, is not at all above twisting the truth in order to juice their readership numbers.

One of the doctor’s observations of the “Trevor Project” that is a major source of youth suicide in transgender issues. On line contact between adult “counselors” for sex.

Rachel, a Brooklyn mom with a gender-dysphoric child, discovered when she went undercover as a pre-teen in the chat, searching for resources for detransitioners. She found none.

Further on in National Review:

Alix Aharon, an anti-pornography campaigner and the creator of Gender Mapper, which tracks gender-clinic locations across the country, was particularly alarmed that the Trevor Project encourages contact between kids and adult strangers.

Further on in the doctor’s observations of comparing US state youth transgender restrictions vs those already in practice in the UK:

their perfectly reasonable actions to restrict the medicalization of gender dysphoria in minors, American states are merely following the lead of several Western European states that are well ahead of the U.S. on this front. The United Kingdom first implemented a ban on puberty blockers in December 2020 following a High Court decision in Bell vs Tavistock. The ban was temporarily overturned by an appeal court in September 2021, only to be effectively reinstated when the Tavistock gender identity clinic was ordered to close following the initial Cass Report in July 2022. There were still loopholes through other practitioners, but on December 11, 2024, the British government declared a comprehensive ban on puberty blockers for gender incongruence or dysphoria for any under 18 years of age.

As in the U.S., there were howls of protest and extravagant claims of “an explosion” in suicides following the initial ban in 2020. However, a comprehensive audit of gender clinic patients uncovered a total of only 12 suicides between 2018 and 2024, or two per year, among many thousands of patients.[9] There was no meaningful difference between the first and last halves of the time period—they did not increase to a meaningful degree. By contrast, in the ongoing NIH-funded trial run by Johanna Olson-Kennedy, there were two suicides out of 315 children undergoing “gender-affirming” treatment.[10]

I don’t have that much confidence in most state agencies in general and California in particular.

So basically the UK closed a clinic ( Tavistock) that was practicing gender affirming practices:

Review of suicides and gender dysphoria at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust: independent report

By Professor Louis Appleby, University of Manchester
Department of Health and Social Care adviser on suicide prevention

Aim of this review

I have reviewed data provided by NHS England (NHSE) on suicides by young patients of the gender services at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, based on an audit at the trust. The specific aim is to examine evidence for a large rise in suicides claimed by campaigners.

Summary of conclusions

  1. The data do not support the claim that there has been a large rise in suicide in young gender dysphoria patients at the Tavistock.
  2. The way that this issue has been discussed on social media has been insensitive, distressing and dangerous, and goes against guidance on safe reporting of suicide.
  3. The claims that have been placed in the public domain do not meet basic standards for statistical evidence.
  4. There is a need to move away from the perception that puberty-blocking drugs are the main marker of non-judgemental acceptance in this area of health care.
  5. We need to ensure high quality data in which everyone has confidence, as the basis of improved safety for this at risk group of young people.

Now maybe we can get back to discussing the terror being inflicted on this mother

And she abandoned her child and fled to florida. There is definitely more to this story and it does not look good for the mother.

Fair enough. We are often told only one side of the story and we do not know all the facts.

The state took custody of her daughter & forced the parents out of their residence and they have a son they still want to protect.

That's horrifying! Shame on the state for essentially kidnapping her! Those poor parents! The child must be terrified!
