  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A possible huge bug of our science

Assumption that existences can't exist outside the reach of our science which is actually an incapable tool as shown.
Please show where I assumed that.

I'd like to see your opinions on my speculation on the huge bug of science.

Science is experiment-based, humans are however incapable of stepping outside of our own space to do experiments. That is to say, science is incapable of detecting even the simplest existences as long as they don't lie within our own space/realm.

On the other hand, spirituality as an advocate from the very beginning of humanity is never about existences lying within our own realm/space. Rather it's always about things lying outside of our realm/space, which science is not futile about but also completely irrelevant. This inability of humankind may lead to the hugest bug our human science may have introduced.

Due to our inability to detect existences outside of our space, which our 5 senses can detect, we somehow have to (by ability) assume that our universe is made of a simple 3D space. In truth however, this simpleton assumption may be wrong (very wrong). Our universe can be made of multiple 3D spaces acting upon each other. Genesis 1:1, in the beginning God created heavens... The plural form of Heaven may well represent that God created multiple spaces in order to achieve the formation of our universe and to facilitate the Earth we are now seeing and knowing.

Subsequently our naive assumption tells us that dark matters and dark energy shall lie within this universe which we may wrongly assume it a simple 3D space. We don't have the ability to calculate inter-space forces if there are any. We can't find dark matters and dark energy possibly because they are results of matters in multiple spaces interacting with each other, in order to form the universe we superficially perceive.

Quantum physics seems to say the same, it cannot be modeled by a simple 3D space/time concept.

What would you say, especially fellow Christian scientists.
I agree, when speaking of such things I indicate God made the heavens, with an s and I associate heaven with the word universe which is used in modern day terms.

Paul was taken to the third heaven, not alone is indicating three different heavens.
Quantum physics opens a door:
Scientists Discover a New Quantum State of Matter Once Considered Impossible : ScienceAlert Scientists Discover a New Quantum State of Matter Once Considered Impossible

Science is finding out that there are things out there that defy what they have deem as being true.

Science is also giving way to Einstein's theory time does not ACTUALLY exist. And his comments on reality and illusion / reality doesn't exist.

Oh yes there is highly intelligent supernatural life forms out there; the Bible is full of them; all ancient cultures were full of them. And this government in their technical advances has been actively searching since 1947 and other major governments around the world also searching. They know!

Live the reality? I'm not the one believing imaginary things.

Imaginary things don't heal you of sicknesses, or other problems like God did with me,
and of course nobody is going to show that in a paper or news, ever,
they would say the 'evangelical phonies telling lies again', the world is rigged like that.
there are millions of testimonies, a lot of them backed up by doctors checks and papers.

If anything "outside" of our reality can be detected and\or interact with our reality, then we can detect it using science. ("If God reached his hand into our reality, he would pull it out dripping in physics." ~ Aron Ra) That doesn't mean we could then identify or predict such a thing, but we might be able to define and possibly discern rules or laws concerning the phenomenon. Like was pointed out previously, if some entity or phenomenon cannot be perceived in any way it can't really be said to "exist in reality" whether that be inside or "outside" our reality.

I would note, also, that it has never been demonstrated that "God" is a necessity for anything to exist.

Lastly, I don't think what you're describing is really a "bug." Most professional scientists would acknowledge a built-in limitation to the scientific method about these sorts of things. It's fairly explicit in the Philosophy of Science that in order to be able to study anything scientifically an assumption must be made that whatever the phenomenon is that is being studied is within our reality and subject to natural laws. If that assumption can't be made or is rejected then science can have nothing to say about it.

Oh, I know that you are incapable of putting something other than an assertion. Do you know what a discussion is anyway?
You made the assertion absent evidence. So I shall wait to discuss that if you are interested.

"bug in science"? or are you going to speak about your bugaboos regarding science? (It could be a dialect thing. I don't speak Canadian.)
Science is experiment-based, humans are however incapable of stepping outside of our own space to do experiments. That is to say, science is incapable of detecting even the simplest existences as long as they don't lie within our own space/realm.
This doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I am unaware of any other space/realms.
Spirituality doesn't have anything to do with science. Science is not concerned with your spiritual life, religion or otherwise.
Due to our inability to detect existences outside of our space, which our 5 senses can detect, we somehow have to (by ability) assume that our universe is made of a simple 3D space.
That's not how we envision our universe. Space-time has 4 dimensions, though it can be sliced into a 3D "space-like slice" and a 1D "time-like slice". Either way the space is not simple as it is curved and in some small spaces, very tightly curved (black holes).
In truth however, this simpleton assumption may be wrong (very wrong).
You left the apostrophe-s off the possessive.
Our universe can be made of multiple 3D spaces acting upon each other.
No.
Genesis 1:1, in the beginning God created heavens... The plural form of Heaven may well represent that God created multiple spaces in order to achieve the formation of our universe and to facilitate the Earth we are now seeing and knowing.
In the ancient Hebrew cosmology, the heavens (where Yahweh lives) are on top of the dome of the firmament (and I believe there are multiple heavens including the lower ones inside the domes where the clouds and birds exist). None of this has anything to do with science.
There are some "geometric" models like that, but they are in no way prominent. Did you read an article about some fringe model and take it too seriously?
Quantum physics seems to say the same, it cannot be modeled by a simple 3D space/time concept.
Quantum physics works just fine in 3D space + time, particularly a very flat, non-GR form. It is done thousands of times each day.
What would you say, especially fellow Christian scientists.
The grad-student Christian version of me would had said most of the things I wrote above, but I know more about the bible now.

I entered this thread in post 12. A reply to your OP. Is that too much for you to keep track of?

But let’s cut to the chase. You’ll provide no evidence for any claims of an external/hidden/supernatural ‘existence’. And this entire thread can be defeated with ‘possibility is not necessity’.

Bored now.

Science is doing exactly what it's suppose to be doing which is an exploration of the physical realm.

Science is not about the unseen realm. It's one of the reasons why things like consciousness is so hard for science to grapple with.

Science is experiment-based, humans are however incapable of stepping outside of our own space to do experiments. That is to say, science is incapable of detecting even the simplest existences as long as they don't lie within our own space/realm.
Science is also theoretically based; theories make predictions leading to experiments and observations which can support or disprove the theory.
Alternatively results from experiments and observations require theories to explain them.

Spirituality or anything supernatural is unfalsifiable in science, can you define an experiment or observation for the existence of spirituality?
Due to our inability to detect existences outside of our space, which our 5 senses can detect, we somehow have to (by ability) assume that our universe is made of a simple 3D space. The plural form of Heaven may well represent that God created multiple spaces in order to achieve the formation of our universe and to facilitate the Earth we are now seeing and knowing.
What makes you think we cannot detect existences outside our 5 senses?
Humans can only detect sights and sounds within a narrow frequency range.
We rely on detectors constructed to be sensitive to particular frequency ranges, the JWST produces images of the universe in the infrared range which is outside the optical range for humans.
Dark matter and energy are effects which have mean measured.
Dark matter is measured by the gravitational effects occurring within spacetime, dark energy is a property of spacetime itself measured by the recession velocities and the distances of distant galaxies.

Quantum physics seems to say the same, it cannot be modeled by a simple 3D space/time concept.

What would you say, especially fellow Christian scientists.
Quantum physics or quantum field theories provide the most accurate and precise theories known in physics and are the unification of the 4D flat spacetime of special relativity and quantum mechanics.

Are you of the denomination, "Christian Scientist"? (Makes a difference as to why you started this thread.)

Science doesn't have a bug, other than human limitations. "Science"—i.e. the habits of the scientific community—definitely have a bug —several, in fact.

Which are you referring to—Science, or "Science"?

Things that leave no mark on our existence cannot affect our existence.

You mean unlike these?

1. the Bible
2. time divided into BC & AD
3. organizations such as the Red Cross and Salvation Army
4. hospitals built by Christian organizations
5. Christian artwork, edifices, statuary, and literature
6. IN GOD WE TRUST on our coins
7. UNDER GOD in our pledge of allegiance
8. the Ten Commandments and other literature displayed in public
9. Christmas & Easter
10. symbols on bumper stickers and flags
11. public debates in the name of Christianity
12. crosses and billboards erected to testify of Jesus Christ
