I do believe that ICE policie are racist. I do not believe that folks of different races are being treated in the same way. But it is redistricting that is the topic of the day.
I do NOT believe that one's race determines his politics or should.
I do not believe that Hispanics (or blacks or whites) all vote the same or should. Democrats lost many elections in 2024 by making such a silly assumption.
As I said, I don't believe that ICE officers treat folks of different races the same. From my experience living across the country and being part of the politics changes from as far back as the 60's, I know that law enforcement often discriminates based on race. Most officers do not.
I now live in SC where the map will change either this year or next. The attempt will be to follow the new rules and make districts as favorable to Republicans as possible. And yes, this will likely mean that our one black rep will be gone; he likely will retire. However, SC politics being what they are, we will likely have a Republican black member in one or two of the districts. Instead of one district being very responsive to blacks, 3 will now need to struggle to meet the needs of minority votes. We have a black senator. We have had an Indian governor. Both ran for president. When there was a horrible racist shooting in a black church a few years ago, there were no riots, not even much demonstrating. We came together and prayed together. Of course, we have racists among us, but they are not our leaders and the actions of our leaders are not racist. They may be very misguided, but that is another matter.
