  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My guess is that “Harley culture” is an aging, conservative-leaning demographic so it should come as no surprise that it intersects noticeably with some forms of Christian traditionalism. That said, I’d also wager many Christians would still wrinkle their noses at motorcycle culture.

What is it with Christians and motorcycles? I've seen a few Christian ministers who ride around on big cruiser motorcycles.. Am i imagining this?

I don't have the precise facts at hand, but I have been aware of "motorcycle" ministries since the 90's. I'm pretty sure they started in the 70's or 80's.

Basically, what happens when bikers convert to Christianity and use their biker background as a way to reach other bikers. It's a form of sub-culture missionary work; basically being part of a sub-culture or hobby and using it as a staging ground for evangelism. That happens in just about every subculture and hobby, but one is probably more likely to notice a biker evangelist than, say, a gamer evangelist or anime enthusiast evangelist.

So you're not imagining it. But it's not necessarily as widespread as you may be thinking it is.

I've heard the cross isn't just a Christian symbol. Other groups like it too. Just b/c people like the cross symbol, that doesn't mean they care for Christianity. Some groups like it b/c it's a death symbol. That could be w/ some of the groups you see
