CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Poor Donald being smeared by the truth. He is a convicted felon on 34 counts. The Manhattan NYS Supreme Court ruled against his appeal, but the Court of Appeals has yet to decide; until it does, the convictions stand. He is still trying to get the case moved to federal court in which case, he could pardon himself or simply have his DOJ lose or dismiss the case.

Donald Trump's conviction was for a Class E Felony. The lowest Felony offense in New York.
He also received an unconditional discharge at sentencing.
His home territory of Manhattan has certainly become a hunting ground against him , and by the enemies that occupy it. Hillary Clinton and George Soros as just two examples.
Meanwhile, while opponents of the Conservative party will happily invoke the charge of Felon against Trup,it does not a thing to vacate his presence and authority in office.
Where unindicted offenders did dwell.
Democrat Barack Obama committed Treason,as did his co- conspirator Hillary R. Clinton ,when giving America's enemy,Iran,the necessary materials and cash so to manufacture nuclear weapons.
VP Joseph Biden in 2018 while attending the Council on Foreign Relations event, boasted that he'd told Ukrainian officials in 2016 that he was flying out in six hours. If Viktor Shokin, the prosecutor in the Burisma Holdings case against Hunter Biden, was not fired, Ukraine was not getting the more than one billion dollars promised them in U.S loan guarantees.
Interestingly,though not really all that surprising in the atmosphere of cronyism in D.C , an investigation in 2020 by Senate Republicans found that Joe was not guilty there of any wrong doing.
They accepted Bidens defense. That , while Biden did admit to withholding money to force the removal of Viktor Shokin, that act was typical of U.S. policy . Because it was done in an effort to fight corruption.
Given Hunter's alleged wrong doing while with Burisma Holdings, I think Bidens defense of his actions would seem,to the reasonable person, to be contrary to that argument.
Why would it sound reasonable to the GOP Senate or anyone, that a threat to withhold a billion dollars in loan guarantees was America's SOP in fighting corruption?
When,in this instance the impetus behind the threat is the removal of a prosecutor pursuing a corruption case against Burisma Holdings and,by extension,Hunter Biden?
Yes,President Trump is a convicted Felon. However,this doesn't mean other unindicted Felons have not corrupted policy in our White House.

The gunman isn't dead. They captured him. He reserved his room at the hotel months ago, so he was registered as a guest of the hotel. At least that is what I heard reported on two networks. As this thing plays out, who can say what else will come to light.So far, reports have it as the only fatality,or injury,was the gunman. He was shot dead.
I hope there's an investigation. Because, Trump had protested attending these dinners in the years prior. Tonight he made an exception.
And now this.
Very curious is,how did an assassin gain entry? If Secret Service was at their best?

I was posting at the time what media was reporting as events were unfolding. The media is intent on getting a story out,first.
Even if the details are skewed,as long as they report first,that's what matters.
If you watch the video where the gunman runs past the checkpoint,you'll see SS draw their weapons and aim. I can see why it would look like they'd shot. But as fast as he was,they had to watch the background so to not hit innocent people.
I feel for the gunmans family and friends. I can't imagine the phknecalls they received and exchanged after this.

I believe it's possible to edit the topic title--or is that only for a certain period of time? If it's possible to Edit it, you could just change the title from "Gunman dead" to "Gunman captured".
