CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I not so sure. Knowing Trump's history and some of the stuff he has organized in the past, I don't think it is too farfetched that he could have organized it. Just saying.

I don't think it was staged, but I do think it's funny that the main talking point across the MAGA-sphere (and adjacent territory) appears to be, "This is why we need a ballroom!". Because yeah, that's a logical response to someone trying to kill the President...

I see no reason to believe any other reason he was willing to die or spend his life in prison. The most surprising thing was the cache of weapons he could smuggle into the hotel room. Perhaps but that would be true whether they have a big expensive ballroom or a bunch of tents on the South Lawn. I don’t see how this justifies the need for the ballroom and I think that facet actually fuels the conspiracy theories surrounding this incident.
