  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I never thought Trump as the Messiah, just the opposite. I don't know any liberal, that thinks of Trump as the Messiah. Trump mocks Christians. This image of Trump doesn't surprise me.
It's been said as an insult. Like when someone is called genius or Einstein as way of calling them stupid.

Let's pretend all of those Catholic priests attacking Pope Francis didn't happen.
Did they sound coherent or like an addled mind struggling to contain his anger at something he can't quite figure out?

I don't recall if they sounded coherent or like an anti-trumper. But Catholic clergy were vicious in their attack of Pope Francis.

I've heard some folks are sometimes super vicious with their family members but when someone outside the family goes after them, they are rabid dogs.

Prolly like this.

What should be troubling to Christians are politicians who support the wonton shedding of innocent blood by way of innumerable abortion clinics. That severely outweighs most of what liberalism is outraged over. Any Christians who supports wholesale baby killing taking place, is in no position to preach about morality. What would Harras' stance have been?
On Judgement Day systematic clinical baby killing is going to be a lot higher on the list than cartoon images and tweets.

(Just to be clear even though what I said was in reply to your post, I am in no way including you in the pro-abortion camp).
I did not say that Democrats are good, but they would have been better than Trump.

I'm aware of the tragic views of the Democrats on the abortions, but has Trump actaully done anything to preserve life? Because all I see him is causing wars and blaspheming God while pretending to be a Godly man.

First, I don’t think Trump portrayed himself as Jesus in the AI image
I'm sorry, but there is no defending Trump here.

I know it's hard to admit when we are wrong, and I was very wrong about Trump, but it is better to admit we were wrong than to live in a like. Trump is a horrible person. This is in no way defending democrats. They cause a lot of bad themselves.

counter argument: let them fight.

It's a shame it's even a point of contention. It was clearly wrong, offensive, and alienated many of those that voted for him.

I'm glad I've seen a pretty universal rebuke of it, though. Most of the Reformed/Evangelical channels I follow on YouTube have discussed and criticised it.

Not agreeing with every single thing said against someone doesn't equate to defending them.

I'm disgusted by what Trump has done to Christianity, but at this point I think we know that we can continue to expect posts like this from him. So condemn it, sure - but I'm not sure that it's worth much more time than that.
There are many things to say about this incident, but that is for a later post.
What Trump has done to christianty is that he has shown that a substantial segment of christians (maybe a minority, but a big and vocal minority) is ready to lie and to support liars. In this very thread christians have been defending Trump's lies and having amplified Trump's lies knowing very well that these are lies. "Birds of a feather flock together".
If a substantial segment of christians are attracted to a repeated adulterer and liar, someone who literally starves children and cuts research funds for cancer research for children- what does that say about these christians?

Anyone who will try apologetics on me will have a much more difficult ask due to Trump and his christian support.

kind regards

I know of a man who, in the mid 19th Century, tied a man to a tree and hacked him to death. I know of others who committed deeds some would find very disturbing. Before we water down “horrible” to mean “people we dislike,” we might want to contemplate what true horror is like.

I don't think Trump posting a crass picture warrants this many replies, people. Find something worthwhile to discuss.
The opportunities for fun with this topic are too good. Im sorry you dont like fun.

What do we call a "man" whos basically a giant child and has never grown beyond extremely needy self centeredness?

Perhaps "horrible" is the wrong word and we should use a different word that reflects his extreme psychological and moral unsuitability for national leadership.
