  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated image of himself seemingly in the role of Jesus Christ on Sunday night, complete with the robe-donning president reinvigorating a sick man with his healing hand while a nurse looked on and an American Eagle soared above.
The bizarre — and some would probably argue sacrilegious — post was made about 40 minutes after the president went off on Pope Leo XIV in a blistering social media rant. More on that below......

I find this image blasphemous. Promoting that image is the behavior of someone who is delusional and mentally unwell. He needs the cognitive test as called for in the Senate. What Donald brags about passing is a screening tool given by doctors to anyone over a certain age or if there is suspicion of dementia. It is not the challenge he has described, nor is there any math in it. My mom passed it until she was 95. What he needs is something much more definitive.

This same picture I posted two months ago offends me, someone more respectable than me should report it.

The hypocrisy is astounding.
Trump reposted the image tonight along with a rant against Pope Leo. The image is offensive, and should be to a Christian.
PM me if you need to

On the other hand, Trump has taught me a lot about empathy while watching friends of faith contort themselves to accommodate his brand of in-your-face politics, (that must be some exercise, doing that!)

I hope this opens the eyes of Christians who support Trump, and they see Trump for who he is
The man who saved Christianity and Christmas from the atheist hordes?

I'm not sure if acting like you intend to give the elderly high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke as well as pushing away allies is empathy.

Or you meant empathy for Trump's Christian supporters?

The limits of the rules here prevent me from a frank response to the President’s behavior in this matter.

It's what he does in response to attacks aginst him from those who already despise him.
Making a mockery of the faith he totes for really real holds is his response to criticism?

I think it's probably more a mockery of the attacks against him. How many times has he been called a messiah by those who despise him? Probably innumerable times. Note that's not justifying his actions, it's just a speculation of what promps his actions along those lines.

...in this case, Trump is responding to the Pope. Rather than create your usual strawman, maybe you could focus on Pope's comments?

“I have no fear of the Trump administration, or speaking out loudly of the message of the Gospel, which is what I believe I am here to do.” Asked directly about Mr. Trump’s comments on Truth Social, Leo said: “It’s ironic — the name of the site itself. Say no more.”

...in response to Trump's direct attack on the pope:

You gotta wonder just what he has to do before right wing Christians finally realize just how bad Trump is. I pray for his soul.

Just how has he done this? Atheists aren't the problem. People who call themselves Christian but fail to follow Jesus is the problem.

My two cents....
Its not all his fault, there are unstable "evangelicals", false prophets, Word of Faith pundits, and New Apostolic Reformation peddlers who have taken over the newly formed House of Faith Office. As a team they use each other for diabolical opposing reasons but centered on one thing, power. These people, mostly Paula White, have elevated Donald Trump to some kind of divine status and he is running with that status. If there was ever an example of a beast and false prophet, well here it is folks! A truly shameful group of people.
Any Christian promoting this faith Office and its abominable words that spread a false Gospel is truly on the " road of destruction ". Thankfully, it is not too late to repent and rebuke these evil doers as so many have already.

On a side note, why be surprised now? There were abominations everywhere in plain sight since his first term. How many examples of extreme hubris does one need?
Be blessed.

What strawman? I'm just speculating as to what promps Trump and what all it's directed towards. If I wanted to comment on the pope's words I would do so. Or is it that I'm supposed to follow your direction rather than my own? Maybe you could stop backseat moderating others.
