I see Melania as a classy lady, who seems to have a really good soul. She kind of reminds me of one of my daughters in honesty, and in integrity and even appearance a little.

I can't presume any kind of ill intent.

Paolo Zampolli, appointed last year by the president to be special representative for global partnerships at the United Nations, said reports that the first couple were introduced by the late sex offender were “totally nonsense”.

The House oversight committee has subpoenaed a number of Epstein associates to appear before its members to answer questions about what they knew of his sex-trafficking ring. Zampolli’s intervention came on the eve of the anticipated publication of an interview that his former girlfriend Amanda Ungaro, a Brazilian model and former friend of Mrs Trump’s, gave to the Spanish newspaper El País.

Zampolli’s name appears several times in documents related to the Epstein investigation, though he is not accused of wrongdoing.

He said last month that he did not have a close relationship with Epstein. “At least I was included, because if you’re not on the list, you’re a loser, right?” he said. [gross]

So this is increasingly looking like an innocent first lady making ill advised comments inan emotional response to a celebrity spat. Meanwhile the culture of deals and leverage that has so benefitted her husband continues to churn out favours and injustices in equal measure.

She's a former model and used to performing, what you are seeing is a carefully managed persona, not who she actually is. Her actual nature is likely much more transactional and fragmented.

What’s absurd is how much the right fawns over her for being “classy” after having been so derisive of previous Democratic first ladies who were not only at least as “classy”, but also far more active in their public service pursuits. Michelle Obama is at least as “classy” in every respect and your side treated her like an animal (literally).

Unlike some on my side, I don’t have a problem with Melania. But the way you guys all fell in line behind that bit of propaganda makes it hard to take your opinions seriously.

If that's the persona she portrays, then that's the actual her. To say she's faking it, and is actually someone else, sounds like a form of jealousy to me.

Like I mentioned earlier, her persona is similar to one of my daughters, who is genuinely that way. For some people, it is the real them.

The description of her as “classy.” It’s a sentiment that’s been repeated a lot since the beginning of the first administration, often along the lines of “we finally have a classy first lady again.”

You didn’t all come to that wording independently. You were fed it.
