  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

AP is calling Israel’s attack on Lebanon an invasion.

Is that opinion of yours (calling an invasion an invasion) supported by anything based in reality?

Who is actually invading Lebanon? Hezbollah or Israel?

lol, what are you going on about?

Israel is the one doing the invading. Hezbollah is Lebanese. It was founded in Lebanon in response to an earlier Israeli invasion of Lebanon.

But even if Hezbollah had invaded Lebanon, that would not mean that Israel's actions do not also constitute an invasion. By your logic, D-Day wasn't an invasion of France because the Germans got there first.

Israeli strike kills Christian party official in Lebanon, sharpening divides over Hezbollah

On Sunday, an Israeli strike hit an apartment in Ain Saadeh, a predominantly Christian town in the hills east of Beirut, killing a man and two women, Lebanon's health ministry said.

The Lebanese Forces Party, a fiercely anti-Hezbollah Christian party, identified two of the dead as Pierre Moawad, a local party official, and his wife Flavia.

The Israeli military told Reuters on Monday it had struck a "terror target east of Beirut" without providing further details, and said it was reviewing reports that "several uninvolved individuals were harmed [sic] as a result of the strike".

The Lebanese army said on Monday that its investigation into the strike found it involved two GBU-39 bombs that pierced the building's roof and detonated on the third floor of the building.

GBU-39s are U.S.-made, and Israel requested approximately 2,000 of them in February 2025, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Defense.

I doubt that. They've defended themselves into taking more territory than almost any other country on earth. Probably #1 in relative size. And now they've defended themselves into starting another regional war.
Why is it that everyone selectively chooses to forget what started the war? Why do people close their eye's when Israelis are put into ovens? You guys can't or perhaps choose to not think about all those kids at a music show and those people in their homes, just doing what we all do in our own homes?

I bet, if Israel just swept up the ashes and just continued on as if nothing happened, some people just wouldn't care. Most probably would never have heard of it. Not much difference anyway right, because those people don't seem to know what started the war in the 1st place.

Why don't people ask, why did the Palestinian terrorists attack in the 1st place. Why did they dig tunnels under the ground, just to enter people's homes butchering everyone in sight?

Did you know that the Palestinian children are brain washed from their birth to hate jews? Their programming on television teaches their children hatred and murder. These shows are shown everyday. Their synagogue teach hatred towards jews.

The only reason a wall was built in the 1st place was because the suicide bombers wouldn't stop. The brain washed children stand in lines to gain entry into their heaven. Image their disappointment, opening their eyes in darkness, nothing but darkness, because that is their reward.

O yeah, Hezbollah.... how else do you make them stop shooting rockets at your home?

With US blessing, Israel expels Spain from Gaza military strategy center

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced Friday he was ousting Spain from the U.S.-led civil-military strategy center, in charge of maintaining peace in Gaza, following persistent criticism from Spain of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran.

Most recently, Spain this week condemned Israeli attacks against Hezbollah in Lebanon that killed at least 200 people and injured more than 1,000, reasserting that the attacks were a violation of both international law and, now, the two-week ceasefire deal reached between the U.S. and Tehran on Tuesday.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez called on the European Union to suspend its treaty with Israel following the attacks and blasted Netanyahu on social media.

“His contempt for life and international law is intolerable,” Sánchez wrote Wednesday on X.

The U.S. created the multinational Civil-Military Coordination Center, based in Kiryat Gat, in October to see through its peace plan in Gaza.

‘Everything is gone’: Israel destroys entire villages in Lebanon

The demolitions came after Israel’s minister of defence, Israel Katz, called for the destruction of “all houses” in border villages “in accordance with the model used in Rafah and Beit Hanoun in Gaza” to stop threats to communities in northern Israel. The Israeli military destroyed 90% of homes in Rafah, in south Gaza.

The tactic of mass destruction of homes in Gaza, where Israel has been accused of committing genocide, was described as domicide by academics, a strategy that is used to systematically destroy and damage civilian housing to render entire areas uninhabitable.

Israel has said that it will occupy vast swathes of south Lebanon, establishing a “security zone” in the entire area up to the Litani River, and that displaced people would not be allowed to return to their homes until the safety of Israel’s northern cities is guaranteed, prompting concern there will be long-term displacement.

Rights groups, however, have said these mass remote detonations could amount to wanton destruction: a war crime. The laws of war prohibit the deliberate destruction of civilian homes, except when necessary for lawful military reasons.

Trump says Israeli, Lebanese leaders to speak amid push to extend ceasefire

A conversation between the Mideast neighbors would be the first in more than three decades, part of an effort to preserve and possibly extend the U.S.-Iran ceasefire.

Lebanon's Auon refuses to speak to Netanyahu after Trump pushes for direct talks

Lebanon's President Joseph Aoun will not hold a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in the near future, three Lebanese officials told Reuters on Thursday, after US President Donald Trump said leaders of both countries would speak.

Two of the Lebanese officials said that the Lebanese embassy in Washington had informed the US administration before a call between Aoun and Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Thursday that Aoun would not speak to Netanyahu.

Trump previously announced on Wednesday night that Israel and Lebanon would hold direct talks on Thursday, adding that "it has been a long time since the two leaders have spoken."

IDF says image of soldier destroying Jesus statue in Lebanon is real, vows action

The Israel Defense Forces confirms the authenticity of a photo showing a soldier in southern Lebanon smashing a statue of Jesus with a sledgehammer, and says it will take action against those involved.

Following an initial review of the photo, the military says that “it was determined that the photograph depicts an IDF soldier operating in southern Lebanon.”

You can't make a Greater Israel without breaking a few eggs.

And the US has the Troops, ships, weapons, and cash to make that happen. Not to mention we are both the most respected and feared nation in this universe.

Looks like that axe just bounces off. The statue is too powerful.

Besides, if the statue hasn't been blessed with holy water, then it's just a piece of material.

Let us assume that all the proper rubrics had been accomplished; what does that make the statue?

If the statue was blessed, through prayers and sprinkling of holy water, then the proper disposal method of the statue should be to bury it under the ground.

If someone destroys it with a sledgehammer, then the particles should be buried... But just because the statue is blessed, doesn’t 'turn it into' Jesus... That's the difference between sacramentals and consecration.

If it were a consecrated piece of the Holy Eucharist that got desecrated, then it would be shameful and upsetting.

It makes it anti-Semitic to talk about.
Did you think someone would care about that statue? Maybe the person who crafted it cares, because it was his work. But it's definitely a nothing-burger for those who had no part in it's construction.

Yes, because Israelis are doing it. It’s different from Muslims vandalizing Christian churches because reasons.

OK, now do statues of Confederate Generals.

Is it your opinion that those who had no part in their construction should consider their defacement a nothingburger?

I’m sure there is a work around for that too. Like the interview with the evangelical tour group member in Israel saying how nice it was and how only some of them were spit on so it’s not a big deal.

True, breaking that statue is much different than vandalizing a Church, which costs a lot more money to fix.
