  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Old wisdom says that the soul is not from genes, one is also self-conscious all one's life. If the soul was from genes, how could one become self-conscious, genes create the soul then and then one becomes self-conscious later? In a way it makes modern medicine a bit outdated too, because if one is healthy in the soul, the body follows too. DNA is there because the cells should be able to copy themselves without it happening via a large center, it would be impossible for an organ like the brain to keep up with everything. Animals are also self-conscious, I assume that plants and trees are also since they feel their surroundings, otherwise it is just that they only feel their surroundings, but perhaps think little. The goal of life is to have fun and the joy it gives to have an offspring, that is why I believe everything has a soul, even bacteria, it is not like something lives on impulses only, without joy life would just have offspring and die without further meaning.

I have also found that you can calculate how intelligent life is by how long it lives, for example a human can live to be 120 years old, while a tree can live to be 3000 years old, i.e. the tree is 10 times less intelligent than a human, it has to do with combustion, a turtle can live to be 300 years old because it has a slightly lower metabolism than a human, and is slightly less intelligent, say three times less intelligent then, what do you mean?

what do you mean?

Yes, what do you mean? Because the OP is just... it's all over the place and nonsensical.

"You can calculate how intelligent life is by how long it lives, and trees can live magnitudes longer than humans but are less intelligent than humans", even though trees don't have a complex brain or even a brain PERIOD? Genes create the soul?

What on Earth are you on?

Old wisdom says that the soul is not from genes, one is also self-conscious all one's life.
One is not self-conscious while asleep and I understand there are waking states in which not full self-consciouness is present.
If the soul was from genes, how could one become self-conscious
Self consciousness is a property of the brain. It has nothing to do with soul, and entity which science does not recognise, on account of the absence of significant evidence.
In a way it makes modern medicine a bit outdated too, because if one is healthy in the soul, the body follows too.
Modern medicine also does not acknowledge the presence of a soul and is able to explain what causes healthy bodies.
DNA is there because the cells should be able to copy themselves without it happening via a large center, it would be impossible for an organ like the brain to keep up with everything.
Undoubtedly you had something of value to convey with these words, all them bona fide English words, and you arranged them in a manner that satisfied most if not all grammatical requirements. And yet, as the end of that, the only phrase that comes to mind is "word salad"
Animals are also self-conscious,
Very, very few of them are in the sense I think you mean. Look up "Theory of Mind"
I assume that plants and trees are also since they feel their surroundings, otherwise it is just that they only feel their surroundings, but perhaps think little.
You are using a radically different definition of self-conscious from that understood by most (all?) psychologistsa and kindred specialists.
The goal of life is to have fun and the joy it gives to have an offspring, that is why I believe everything has a soul, even bacteria,
Your suggested goal of life would not match that of all people. For example, to give primacy to having fun would be inappropriate for Christians.

Your final paragraph leaves me as bewildered as @Warden_of_the_Storm. Ultimately, while Body and Health have a place on this sub-forum, I'm not sure that an essay on the soul is in its correct home.

Are you saying bees are 1000x more intelligent than you?

So a dog, which lives maybe 12 years, is smarter than a human who lives maybe 80 years?
