Our allies have been with us for decades, through thick and thin, long before Trump showed up on the scene. However, when you denigrate other countries, talk about their leaders like dirt because they refused to help you hijack another country (Greenland), and you throw a hissy fit like a five year old, don't be surprised when they don't jump when you demand them to. Trump went into this war alone without fully consulting our allies, without planning the pros and cons. He wanted the praise and glory of what he thought would be a quick little war where the U.S. bombed the heck out of Iran and he could gloat and crow about how great the U.S. and its military might is. Unfortunately, he (all on his own) didn't have enough wherewithal to think of all the ins and outs (even though some in his administration urged him not to attack). Now that things are way messier than he could ever imagine, he needs those same allies' help, and they're unwilling to put the lives of their citizens on the line. Had he taken the time to formulate a plan (that didn't leave our citizens stranded in foreign country), that recognized Iran could control the Hurmuz strait, maybe things could have turned out far better. And, if you really, really, really don't need the allies' help, why keep begging all of them to help?
I think if Russia initiates conflicts in Europe, then the US should stay out of it. After all, why should we put the lives of our citizens on the line? Especially when we're on a different continent, with no immediate threat to us?
Sounds like someone else's problem... Someone else's war.
