  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Our allies have been with us for decades, through thick and thin, long before Trump showed up on the scene. However, when you denigrate other countries, talk about their leaders like dirt because they refused to help you hijack another country (Greenland), and you throw a hissy fit like a five year old, don't be surprised when they don't jump when you demand them to. Trump went into this war alone without fully consulting our allies, without planning the pros and cons. He wanted the praise and glory of what he thought would be a quick little war where the U.S. bombed the heck out of Iran and he could gloat and crow about how great the U.S. and its military might is. Unfortunately, he (all on his own) didn't have enough wherewithal to think of all the ins and outs (even though some in his administration urged him not to attack). Now that things are way messier than he could ever imagine, he needs those same allies' help, and they're unwilling to put the lives of their citizens on the line. Had he taken the time to formulate a plan (that didn't leave our citizens stranded in foreign country), that recognized Iran could control the Hurmuz strait, maybe things could have turned out far better. And, if you really, really, really don't need the allies' help, why keep begging all of them to help?

I think if Russia initiates conflicts in Europe, then the US should stay out of it. After all, why should we put the lives of our citizens on the line? Especially when we're on a different continent, with no immediate threat to us?

Sounds like someone else's problem... Someone else's war.

I guess the U.K. and all those countries that helped us during 9-11 should have stayed out of it too? You know all those countries that ran to our aid right away? But Trump denies they didn't help at all?

I'm sure there are plenty in Europe who asked the same thing when they DID put their lives on the line given the first war of choice the US embarked on. Keep in mind the only country who invoked Article 5 where Europe et al did show up was for America.

I don't even know why the UK cared anymore about 911. Most people have become warmed-up to Islamic terrorism anyway, so much so, that I was just informed yesterday that there's no difference between defending your own country, and being a terrorist. Same thing, they say! Oh well. I guess we have a lot in common with Hamas then afterall, according to some on the radical, far-left. Ask the kids at Columbia University, they'll tell you the same.

Should have just surrendered on 9/12, right.?

It must be well past my bed time because I don't understand what the heck you are saying. The statement was about our allies helping us during 9-11. Your answer side-tracks that. Like most MAGA's you're trying to deflect when you don't have an answer. Our allies always helped us until Trump insulted them. Only Trump's cabinet responds to that foolishness.

They wasted their time, Deb! The terrorists are going to win, in the end.

Also Deb, don't talk down to me like that: "Like most MAGA's you're trying to deflect"... That kind of broad-brushing is rude.

...I've been fair with you so far, but I feel like you're starting to take advantage of my kindness. That's not a good idea.

When I lay my heart out, you shouldn't step on it. You should be respectful.

Well he didn't start any wars before and they said they didn't want to.
It’s true. One thing I could always give Trump credit for was not involving the US in any major conflict during his first term.

That went right out the window with this second term.

If losing is a foregone conclusion, then why are we there in the first place? Sorry if I hurt your feelings, but I can tell you that was not me talking down to you. No one wants to see that and I don't want to start a war of words with you on what is supposed to be a Christian board - that shows no grace at all. I go out of my way (for the most part) to be civil and will continue to do so. But If that is all it takes to hurt your feelings. . . . . . . . . . .

As someone reminded me on this thread, during his first term he had more mature reasonable people advising him.

We're the last willing people to fight. The others have all given up.

What you're doing is sticking up for MAGA. Like I said before, DO YOU. If you like it, fine with me. I'll still have conversations with you and just disagree with 95% of what you say. It's called having a feisty conversation, which is why I like this board most of the time. Despite our differences, we are still under one blood - Christ's, so even if I think you're crazy and disagree with what you're saying, you are still my brother in Christ.

Friendly post, nice to see. But just one correction - the first line... 98% of the things Trump has done, are all things I wanted before he even made it to office the first time, including the tariffs, which I learned from Pat Buchanan. Even the freedom cities were my idea, before it was Trump's.

So, all I'm saying is that Trump and me, happen to think very similarly... So, I'm not simply sticking up for MAGA, but rather, it's something much more complex than that.

Otherwise, great post! :)

o_O Landon, Landon, Landon. So many things to say............ my, my, my. I guess that means you and Trump have a symbiotic (?) relationship. Not sure if that is the correct word. Well, I can see where we have a thousand things to disagree on. Gotta run. I will happily argue with you tomorrow.

I am starting to believe this guy is a danger for the whole world.
I thought an USA president for 'peace' and normal moral values seem good. :(
It did seem unlikely that Trump's promises would amount to nothing didn't it.

I love how trump spent a yera insulting, attacking, denegrating every country, mocked said he didn't need, now is begging their help for something he caused.

And as been hiarliously pointed out....how is NATO North ATLANTIC supposed to help in the straight where it take weeks or months for them to get there if not more. I mean the US is sending troops to there and that will take weeks.

Also what you talking about US helping fight Russia? Russia helped kill americans in this war and trumps response was to help Russia. I doubt trump would even attack Russia if they attacked the US.
