I thought moving past events we already know that happened, this might be an interesting topic given current events. Personally, I feel it’s a distraction given everything that’s going on in the political landscape right now. But I think this might make for an interesting discussion as compared to the constant repeats. So what do you think? Real or a distraction?

Gosh. As Ross Douthat points out, we had better watch closely to see if the Department of Energy is on Trump’s list of “relevant agencies.” The DOE is where a lot of the UAP stuff has been handled.
If you haven’t already, read Diana Pasulka’s American Cosmic: UFOs, Religion, Technology, which was foundational for me in getting me to take all this seriously, for once. I just read an advance copy of her forthcoming book (July 28), The Others, and I think it’s her most important one yet. It’s only secondarily about UAPs, but is is about non-human intelligence and the future of humanity. In my view, it is not a happy story, but one that calls for people to develop their powers of discernment.
Readers of Iain McGilchrist, in particular his writings about the importance of protecting the ability to focus attention, will understand why what Pasulka writes in The Others is so important. That’s all I will let myself say about this for now. Not everyone will have the time or the patience for The Master And His Emissary, the gateway to McGilchrist World, or the monumental The Matter With Things (though a more important book may not be published in this century). If not, then read his much shorter Ways Of Attending.
And, if you haven’t yet read my Living In Wonder, might I suggest that you do, especially the (dark) chapter on UAPs and technology? The publisher, Zondervan, made the first chapter available publicly on PDF, which you can download here. The opening anecdote is about a Catholic experience I met, whom I call “Nino.” His story is extraordinary. He lived in denial for seven years … then the things started showing up. Even his wife saw them. They only went away after I counseled him to see an exorcist. Think about that.
Read this tweet from the scientist and mathematician Eric Weinstein, long a UAP skeptic, but in more recent years of the opinion that There Must Be Something There, because it’s impossible to explain a whole bunch of things, outside of a massive, brobdignagian conspiracy. In today’s tweet, he says:

One thousand percent. There is not going to be anything “fun” about any of this. But we need to know it.I believe this is about disturbing secrets which people used to kill for, and this is going to be a LOT less ‘fun’ than people used to recreationally speculating about and UFOs imagine.
