  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I would post this in politics but it wouldn't be welcome and this is also a theological issue anyway. Building a Godly nation actually builds an ungodly church. Jesus said to take no thought for our life as far as life's necessities goes. He said to seek the kingdom and God will take care of us. The apostle Paul says something similar. He said to be anxious for nothing but to pray. Politicians however teach us to worry and fight over economics and money.

Politicians boast in the economy as well. They promise prosperity but the Bible said that both prosperity and adversity comes from God and we dont know what comes next. The apostle James said that boasting in tomorrow or in making money is evil. He said that we dont know what tomorrow will bring. Its in God's hands.

Ecclesiastes 7:14 In the day of prosperity be joyful,
But in the day of adversity consider:
Surely God has appointed the one as well as the other,
So that man can find out nothing that will come after him.

Yes, Christian Nationalism is anathema. It is portraying a "different gospel" that distorts the core message of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.
Galatians 1:8-9 warns that anyone preaching a gospel contrary to the one received should be "accused" or "accursed" (anathema). If an ideology prioritizes earthly political power over biblical teachings, it meets that definition. Christians involved need to come out of her.
Be blessed.

People love to place faith in men. Just look at what passes for thing people believe in like the ridiculous claims of men about God's creation and the accomplishments man has claimed they have done .

I am not as convinced as most in here. There is nothing wrong with Christians involved in politics, business, wealth etc. The wrong comes from bad motives, not these endeavors. Where MAGA goes off the rails is that it is not about helping the poor, it clearly favors the rich. It certainly is not about helping minorities, or loving neighbors. And America first is a pure disaster, since biblically the first shall be last. MAGA is ironic though because it will be shown to fail allowing the humility to be birthed that can heal a nation.

So you don't agree that prosperity is in God's hands?

Sure prosperity is in God's hands but he has outlined many principles in the word where believers can help themselves through their giving and practicing the word.
Giving isn't the same as taxation. We are to give from the heart, not being forced to give. Taxation is necessary but its not God's work of Giving. Arguing over the economy disobeys Jesus and his apostles

God loves good stewardship. I do not argue over the economy or public policy but Christians are accountable for their votes and effort to help navigate the right path. It is not always an exercise in futility.

God never told us to be good stewards with taxes. In all these political discussions I never hear anyone pointing out the evil i just pointed out

The government takes up to half of our money, (federal, state and local) You really think that God wants us to just pray for those leaders? He expects accountability. Electing poor leaders is not God's best. We need to be somewhat involved depending on our resources and calling. Lots of great Christians in the bible had a role. Daniel and Joseph for instance.

Jesus said to give to anyone who asks. Why do we care about money if God gives what we need? Its like saying God failed us.

God gives good stewards more. Unfaithful stewards can lose their allotment. Part of being a good steward is to manage all funds including those given to government to the best of our ability. Bad government is a drain. So it is good if Christians can be involved. God loves and even calls some public servants to work in government. Some Christians though in that area might be fake, and looking out for their interests rather than God's. So a healthy dose of discernment is always needed as well. No need to rail on such people when the bible says to pray for them. Constructive influence and good voting is the proper role for Christians in society. Doing nothing will bring alot of grief.I am not talking about letting the love of money or poor motives drive your choices in public policy. i am talking about electing honest and decent leaders that serve justly. God loves that.

Paul said to pay your taxes not complain about them. You're taking that teaching out of context i think.
