  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What actions should I take to get the most unsaved people saved? It seems clear to me that salvation is not of my [or anyone's] own works but Christ's finished work on the cross. I think we as saved souls can positively or negatively influence the salvation of the unsaved; how can i positively influence the most souls; like soul-winning. It seems common answers are prayer, intitiative/relational evangelism or disciple-making, or living a virtuous life that reflects Christ. How about some other examples, it seems I am already doing those. I think a reddit thread I asked about this question is attached, but if you have any additional information for getting the most unsaved saved, check that it is not in the thread. Thanks :)

Here seems to be another post along the same lines. I need to know about how my actions can positively impact the salvation of the most unsaved; thanks.

God gives each of us different 'gifts' (focuses, abilities, worldviews). I find myself in scorn of the premise from which the Title of your OP is drawn, that numbers of converts are of any importance. But then I reprimand myself, because while I think in terms of the Church (the Body of Christ) coming to know him better--i.e. "doctrine" (particularly the 'Doctrine of God, proper', and the ensuing dedication and worship that such study demands)-- I have to admit that is MY focus and worldview.

It's kind of humorous to me how God uses people. The Evangelist thinks that is the whole reason we are here --that the charter of the club is to get more members into the club. I'm just the other way around; I think the whole reason we are here is to come to know God better and to get closer to him, to learn what 'IN HIM' means, and to combat the myriad false claims about our magnificent God. But we both mean to 'grow the church'. And we both know that through us, even through our inabilities and ignorance, God is glorifying himself.

This is a good question that most Christians are pretty apathetic about. (Seen by how few people actually post in the evangelism area)

You mentioned prayer, relational evangelism (friendship evangelism), disciple making and being a good person but the one thing that is the most important was missed off the list.

Prayer:- People can be saved without prayer.
Relational/Friendship Evangelism:- You do not need to be someone's friend for them to be saved.
Discipleship:- People need to have a heart change first before they become a disciple. (If they have not had a heart change then they are simply following us to be good people. This has filled the church with many people who do good deeds who think that they are saved)
Virtuous Living:- Living a virtuous life is good but our actions or good deeds are not the power of God unto salvation.

The most important thing that was not mentioned in the list is that we need to speak the Gospel. The Gospel is the power of God to change hearts of stone to hearts of flesh and Jesus commanded us to "Go and preach" to all the world and tell as many as possible. There is much power in it. We need to trust that when we speak the spoken message, that it can change even the hardest person. So, learn how to say the Gospel and then tell everyone. Not only to your friends but to everyone.
A great place to learn is on YouTube. Living Waters is good as they say the Gospel in its fullest. They show the sinner that they have fallen short of God's standards and then once the sinner knows that they are in big trouble and need a saviour, they then tell them how Jesus paid the price for our sins and because of this, God can grant us grace and mercy.

So, learn how to say the Gospel, even to people you do not know and then take the risk. You will most likely fail a number of times but keep at it. People fail many times before they can ride a bike well.
And remember, that if you speak to 1000 people and everyone rejects the Gospel, then, you are still 100% successful in your mission. We have been commanded to tell as many people as possible. That is our mission. Then it is God who creates the growth in them.

But we both 'grow the church'.
Jesus commanded to go and preach the Gospel to everyone. But Jesus said this too, "The one who has my commandments and keeps them is the one who loves me."
If we say we love Him but cannot be bothered obeying Him by telling others of His great sacrifice (so evangelism), then how much do we really love Him?
While you are correct that that we should get to know God better and get close to Him, we cannot ignore His command. To ignore it would be unloving to Him and also our neighbour.
If Christ commanded us to preach the Gospel, how do you think we should obey that command?

I would get away from the saved thinking and start using receiving Eternal life (God's free gift). As saved can have a few applications that are not connected to receiving Eternal Life.

Ask people would they like to know how to receive God's free gift of Eternal Life. By believing in Jesus for Eternal Life. If you need Biblical support, The Gospel of John is your book to use, as it was written for that very purpose.

Like I said, evangelist. :p

For whatever it might be worth by way of encouragement, I can't help but tell people about God. I can't help but 'obey the command'. Like Jeremiah said, "But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot."

Or, Amos,
"The lion has roared—
who will not fear?
"The Sovereign Lord has spoken—
who can but prophesy?"

Also, I think it is worth mentioning, the gospel is the story of redemption. It includes all fact. It is not just a statement including the components sin, death, the cross, living forever, and such. Redemption was God's purpose from the beginning, and the only way we can be with him as his glorified particular people in a way that even the angels cannot be. THE Sons of God.

I don't have the gift of evangelism. I simply think that all Christians should share the Gospel. It would be wrong not to. James 4:17 says "Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin."

This is what it is like in me too. We are the same. This is the work of the Holy Spirit. They Holy Spirit was given so that we would speak and not keep silent. (Acts 1:8)

How beautifully said; I think everything you said @1Tonne is extremely reasonable. It seems as a college student who was less than two years ago, I want God to use me to get the most people saved by Christ. I think just need more advice on how to get salvations by the work of Christ on the cross. It seems my initiative evangelism/prayer/disciple-making is resulting in fewer salvations than needed; so how do increase the number of people saved?
