  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

It means to instill fear of consequences. That’s the whole point.

They are the parents. It sounds like they are doing their upmost to keep you on the right path. Instead of asking if your punishment is fair, you should ask yourself if your actions are fair. You should not worry about being put in time out in your room if you have no intention of breaking the rules again. Maybe ask these questions of a professional.

i have no intention of getting in trouble again, just the threat of punishment and being shut in all weekend is enough to make me behave, after i served my punishment, my parents set my another 4 page essay to write, i had to describe how i feelt about my punishment, did i regret what i did to my sister, and was the fear of punishment enough to make me behave, my parents said the essay was to make me confront head on what i had done wrong, and why harsh punishment is sometime necessary , my parents said education is a very important part of punishment , they said its rehabiltation what is that ?

Sounds like they are very wise. And maybe the consequences taught you something. If all else fails. Seek out family counselor or speak to your school counselor. Rehabilitation is a term used to restore someone to health and the right state of mind providing the tools to help you deal with whatever issue that comes up so you do not fall into old self destructive behavior again.

Prison is for punishment but there are also programs for rehabilitation as well. Prison is also used for the safety of law abiding citizens.
so the essays were for rehabilitation and being locked in my room was obvously for punishment ?

Sally,
Maybe there is more to this than meets the eye. Your actions may be caused by parental abuse. One red flag to me is that your parents have a lock outside your door rather than the normal inside the room where you have control. Being locked in a room is abuse IMO. If you really want to take it a step further, you can report them to CPS. But a warning, they will remove you and your siblings from their care and they will have to to go court to get you back. Big mess. Meanwhile, you will be bounced from home to home , foster care.
Now knowing your option, is it really that bad?

i know i done wrong but i dont think i deserved a punishment as server as this do you ?

Your sister was trapped with no possibility of release. That's what they're mimicking. Do you understand there are people who wouldn't accept your apology for the same? They would result to violence or do something worse to teach you a lesson. You keep forgetting she's your sister. Which should warrant more regard and the warning I'm articulating now. If you continue the practice of nonchalance regarding your mistakes it's going to get you hurt. The offense was forgiven because you're related. But others will respond differently.

Actually, it is against the law to falsely imprison someone. Not to mention dangerous. If there was a fire and you were locked in...God forbid. Those outside locks need to be removed.

No offense, but how old are you? You sound incredibly immature.

Doing something like this would have never occurred to me when I was a kid. My mom always told me she thought I was a good kid, "intelligent and mature" for my age. Can the same be said about you?

Your posts show a pattern of concerning behavior. I think your punishment is warranted. It sounds a bit sadistic to me that you don't even care about other people in the slightest and how your actions would make them feel. Hopefully in the future you won't turn into a psychopath. Sorry if that sounds harsh.

The parents are also to blame. They are to set an example and haven't done that.
