  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Last thursday i had a row with my older sister, because she is claustrophobic and hates confined spaces , i locked her in her room, i enjoyed watching her kick and screaming to be let out, i only meant for her to be locked in for an hour or 2, while anyway my friend rang up and i got distracted and went out, i forgot about my sister, my parents came home 6 hours later and found her locked in, she had missed her driving lesson and a date with her boyfriend, my parents went mad and said i would be getting a taste of my own medicine , they said i will be spending ALL of this weekend locked in my room as a punishment,as i have exams this year my parents have set me tons of school work to do , including maths , english , french and science plus 2 punishment essays, as i write i am locked up and i DONT like it, are my parents being fair ?

What you did was cruel and unloving. You left someone locked in a closet for 6 hours and question your correction? Add in the fact she has claustrophobia and the uncomfortable reality of needing the powder room and thirst. And you enjoyed it too? It sounds like you need a therapist more than confinement. Something's really off.

Did you apologize to your sister? And more importantly, do you feel enough guilt to repent from such actions in the future? Your punishment is pretty light considering you were deliberately after agitating a medical condition. She could have gone into shock.

Claustrophobia
Prolonged confinement often triggers an intense, sustained fight-or-flight response, leading to physical exhaustion and severe panic attacks. Mentally, the individual may experience "air hunger" or a distorted perception of time, where minutes feel like hours, heightening the sense of hopelessness. Over many hours, the brain's executive function can decline, potentially resulting in dissociation, temporary cognitive impairment, or even visual and auditory hallucinations as the mind struggles to process the lack of environmental stimuli.

I think they should have took your social media as well. You seem to get a kick posting about all your wrongdoings and punishment. You know it wrong. You can’t be that clueless.

Seems too lenient to me. If you were an adult you would be locked up in prison for false imprisonment and or child neglect. Your sister could also sue, and or your parents could be investigated by child protective services. What if there was a fire and she died? You would be charged with manslaughter at the least and possibly murder. Better think your options out more carefully when you are causing harm to others.

"If a person dies during the commission of false imprisonment, the charges can range from manslaughter to murder, depending on the jurisdiction, the level of recklessness, and whether the act is considered a "dangerous felony"
. Because false imprisonment involves holding someone against their will—an inherently dangerous act—the legal consequences are severe."

From google ai
False imprisonment is an intentional, unlawful restraint of a person’s freedom of movement within a bounded area without their consent or legal authority
. It is both a tort (civil wrong) and a crime, covering actions like physical barriers, threats, or force that compel someone to remain in a place.

Key Elements of False Imprisonment
For a situation to be classified as false imprisonment, the following must generally be met:

  • Intentional Confinement: The person, or "tortfeasor," deliberately acted to restrict movement.
  • Bounded Area: The victim is restricted to a specific, limited, or defined area, not just prevented from going to one particular location.
    • Against Consent: The confinement was not agreed to or permitted by the victim.
    • Lack of Legal Authority: The detention was not lawful (e.g., a legal, justified arrest).
    • Awareness: In some jurisdictions, the victim must be aware of the confinement, while in others, proof of actual harm is sufficient.

Common Examples
  • Locking someone in a room, car, or building.
  • Threats of physical harm or using threats to keep someone from leaving.
  • Unlawful detention by law enforcement (false arrest).
  • An employer preventing an employee from leaving a workplace, or a store detaining a customer without reasonable cause (e.g., shoplifting suspicion).

Consequences and Legal Action
  • Civil Tort: Victims can sue for damages to cover lost time, physical injury, and emotional distress.
  • Criminal Charges: It can be charged as a misdemeanor or felony, resulting in fines or incarceration.
False imprisonment differs from kidnapping, which typically involves moving the victim (asportation) or hiding them, while false imprisonment focuses solely on the confinement itself.

I think you need help. Doing what you did was horrible. Why would anyone do such a thing?

I think you have problems with authority given the things you've shared in your posts. There's a disconnection between the severity of your actions and misconceived victimhood when you're corrected. The most obvious aspect in your response is the omission of regret. While you're aware it's wrong you don't feel bad for doing it or deserving of punishment when it occurs.

You need psychological help and your actions are going to catch up with you. Everyone won't turn the other cheek or overlook your behavior. You won't be able to wipe the slate clean with an apology. Adults play by different rules.
