I don't count those as examples as 'tough love.'
The overall point is that even IF the Lord applies 'tough-love' from time to time, that doesn't mean we are each in an authorized position to likewise met it out on the world around us.
I think the primary problem comes in that many people (Christians) confuse the work of evangelizing for social clean-up, and they are more concerned about living in a "preferred society" than they are about the eternal destiny of each and every human soul around them.
I'm sorry, but political ideology-----whatever shade or side it may be on, Left or Right----- needs to take a backseat to the Great Commission. There's a reason I've already addressed the issue of Christian Compassion as obligatory upon all of us, even if we disagree with the Leftist advocacy for their version of 'empathy.' Our approach to people shouldn't be too much different than Jesus' attitude in talking to the woman at the well, or any other people whom He saw were in need of spiritual redirection toward salvation.
