My dear wife went to glory last night

Gracious Heavenly Father,
Please help David to manage the pain of this loss, and comfort him in this time of grief. I pray for Your sustaining power both in body and spirit, and that the Body of Christ in his local area would walk alongside him to provide company, however insufficient it may be. While the awareness of the loss may never go away, I pray for Your strength to stand up under this weight, to embrace the reality that he will see her again and that she is perfectly healed in glory. We have hope, and let that be our witness.

And dear Lord, do fill in the gaps in my words where they have proven to be inadequate, as there are no words for this agony I am asking you to mitigate. Where my crude understanding is insufficient, stand in the gap for me and send others who understand.

I pieced this together from what my dad has talked about after losing his wife (my mother). He is still praying about the loss 8 months after it happened, long after my mind and emotions have moved on. This one can linger for a long time, so don’t beat yourself up if it takes time to process. It’s a lot of memories.
