FIRST TIER EU
For years EU Federalists have proposed that the EU core 6 countries (their biggest economies) Federate into one country called "Europe". Each Country would sacrifice some sovereignty to step into getting first-rate access to the decision making processes of a new superpower called Europe. It would have a unified foreign policy, allowing a truly European Army.
SECOND TIER EU
Other countries in the EU might want to join this one day, or might not. It's voluntary. They would be able to sit back and watch the economic benefits of all those government services and company firms operating under a unified legislative framework. The savings would be put into generous incentives for their own version of "DARPA" etc - to create a truly unified European Army and unified scientific institutions and probably IT & AI institutions. A genuine competitor to Silicon Valley! And the way various EU countries are going - that could even end up being Open Source with firms like Murena backing the services sector for EU sponsored FOSS.Third Tier
But then there are those countries neighbouring the EU that might want to join bits of the EU - like the common market - but not really be in the EU. Like the UK. So a 3rd tier is proposed.Fourth Tier - that could one day replace NATO if MAGA remains in the USA?
But what about the fact that "International Law" is dead? That the country hosting the UN hates the restrictions of the UN - and never signed up to the ICJ etc?
Well, here we go!
It's a dream at this stage.
But what if there was a 4th tier to the EU - something the EU developed that might even one day replace NATO (if MAGA continues their hostile stance to everything European!?)
Welcome to the "Middle Powers" tier of the EU.
Carney's "Middle Powers" idea - given a forum. Given flesh!
It's just an idea. But what if?
As an Aussie, I'd FAR PREFER that we invest in this than in AUKUS.
I mean, we might get invaded, and call on our American Big Brother to defend us. But what if Trump got shampoo in his eyes that morning? I mean - we've got to be fair. He hates it when that happens! We've all go to understand that his mood is more important than America's formerly reliable international commitments and institutions.
