  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Former CNN host Don Lemon was taken into custody by federal authorities on Friday over his involvement in the viral protest by anti-ICE agitators at a Minnesota church.

Attorney General Pam Bondi wrote on X, "At my direction, early this morning federal agents arrested Don Lemon, Trahern Jeen Crews, Georgia Fort, and Jamael Lydell Lundy, in connection with the coordinated attack on Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota."

Lemon was apprehended in Los Angeles while covering the Grammy Awards, according to his attorney, Abbe Lowell.
"Don has been a journalist for 30 years, and his constitutionally protected work in Minneapolis was no different than what he has always done," Lowell said in a statement. "The First Amendment exists to protect journalists whose role it is to shine light on the truth and hold those in power accountable. There is no more important time for people like Don to be doing this work."

He continued, "Instead of investigating the federal agents who killed two peaceful Minnesota protesters, the Trump Justice Department is devoting its time, attention and resources to this arrest, and that is the real indictment of wrongdoing in this case. This unprecedented attack on the First Amendment and transparent attempt to distract attention from the many crises facing this administration will not stand. Don will fight these charges vigorously and thoroughly in court."
Is this what democracy looks like?

If they interrupt a church service
Who’s to say that interrupting a church service is equal to getting “too close” to federal agents while protesting/recording?
Oh yeah, the President and his Attorney General.

Well yelling in their faces, blowing whistles and using bullhorns right in their ears is too close

Yes. During a law enforcement operation, if LE is close enough to touch you, you are way too close. But that is not the point. The point is that Don Lemon knew what these agitators were planning and stormed into the church, pretending to act like a journalist. When in reality, he was using his microphone no differently than an unhinged lunatic screaming in someone's ear with a bull horn. Just like so many of these activists, they are the ones beating a bee hive with a stick and crying on CNN because they are covered with stings.

The assault on the first amendment continues.
Understood. Breaking into a house of worship is a peaceful protest protected by the first amendment. But breaking into a capital building is "insurrection." Burning down cities because a drug thug died of an overdose is a "fiery but mostly peaceful protest" and somehow protected free speech. Liberals go unhinged because a man squirted a representative with apple cider vinegar, but turn a blind eye when liberal activists throw frozen bottles of water. Yes, even entire police precinct and city block can be overrun by a mob for weeks, and it is just a "summer of love." People can be rounded up and arrested for not wearing a mask, but for some reason, illegal immigrants who are convicted of rape, murder, and child molestation is comparable to the Gustapo rounding up Jews.

My point is that for years, these liberal activists have been emboldened by the democrat elites by creating a permissive structure in which, until this point, felt that they could get away with anything due to a lack of accountability. Now, finally people are being held accountable and they are shocked. Heck, after Renee Good was shot, her "wife" was shocked to discover that the officers had actual lethal ammunition in their guns, showing a complete divorce from reality.

I pity these activists. I truly do, and I pray for them just as Jesus did while hanging on the cross. "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do." I am sure they are truly good people with good intentions. But the Democrat elites have manipulated them and are using them just like how the devil used people to crucify Jesus and pardon Barabas.

Call it what you want, but the fact is that these activists are the "useful idiot" pawns the democratic party desperately needs to advance their agenda. Bottom line, if you do not want to get stung, do not be a useful idiot hitting a bee hive with a stick because someone convinced you that it was a good idea.

So do I have the first amendment right to barge into a funeral taking place, blowing a whistle and yelling into a bullhorn?

Not to my knowledge. Do I have the first amendment right to record and interview people who do so? You know, the actual thing under discussion.

That's nice. Get back to me when you want to discuss what is actually going on in this case. I have no interest in listening to your litany of grievances.

IDK, do you have the first amendment right to barge into the funeral along with me just as long as you have camera and a microphone? Is that type of journalism worth protecting? Barging into say a community play and shoving a camera and mic in people's faces?

No, it’s not. Democracy doesn’t have an issue with journalism nor does it punish those who report on it.
So democracy involves journalists storming into a house of worship and shoving microphones instead of bull horns to harass people.
