  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

John 15:5 "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. NKJV

Jesus, Himself, warned that we must abide in Him. If we did not abide in Him, we would be cast out as a branch. Verse 1-2 the father is the one who is the vine dresser.

1 John 3:21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. 23 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. 24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. NKJV

John wrote that the person who keeps His commandments abides in Jesus. Jesus first commandment is that we keep believing in Him. How could we quit believing in Jesus?

Hebrews 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit, 5 and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, 6 if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, NKJV

How does a Christian fall away from Christianity?

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. 26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries. 28 Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. 29 Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace? NKJV

The writer of Hebrews urges believers to hold fast their confession of their hope. The confession of their hope was Jesus. A few scriptures later he stated if “they sin willfully.” By 2Corinthians 5: 15 the only sin God imputes is not living for Jesus. The only way to sin is to stop living for Jesus. Since they were warned a few scriptures earlier to hold fast to their hope in Jesus, hope must have something to do with our living for Jesus, apostatizing or sinning willfully.

Colossians 1:21 And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled 22 in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight — 23 if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister. NKJV

Paul warned the Colossians to not be moved away from their hope of the gospel. That hope is the same hope the Hebrews had in Jesus. What does hope in Jesus have to do with not abiding in Jesus or apostatizing from Jesus?

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony. NKJV

Without hope in Jesus we have no saving faith, we are saved through faith. If we lose faith we lose salvation.

Romans 8:37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. NKJV

We are more than conquerors through the Father who loved us. John 15: 1-2 the Father is the vinedresser, if we lose faith in Jesus, it is because we love the world more than Jesus. We have trampled on the blood that sanctified us and we sin willfully. The Father casts us out as a branch.

I disagree.

1 John 3:22 And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment. 24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. NKJV

According to John abiding in Jesus is accomplished by continuing to believe in Jesus. If you believe in Jesus you are saved,

1 John 2:3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked. NKJV

John says whoever keeps His commandments (John gave the commandments in 1John 3:23) knows Him. If we know Him we should walk as He walked.

John 10:14 I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. 15 As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. NKJV

His sheep know Him therefore, His sheep keep His commandment to keep believing in Jesus. His are the elect. sheep

Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was enraged with the woman, and he went to make war with the rest of her offspring, who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. NKJV

The Dragon was only mad at the Christians who keep the commandments (given in 1 John) Keeping the commandments, given in 1 John, makes Satan made, it must be because they keep one saved.

Also someone being dead was brought up, but we really need to see how Christ talked about dead people:

Part of the meaning to the concept of being given a gift is the fact that the ownership of the gift actually transfers to the receiver of the gift and as such the receiver of the gift can do what he/she wants to do with the gift.

The Hebrew writer in Heb. 12:16 See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.

Esau owned the “gift” of the firstborn inheritance rights, which could not be taken from him by anyone, nor could someone steal it from his hand, not even his father could take them back, but Esau could sell it or give it away.

Click to expand...Sin Will eventually forfeit a person’s gift. They may even be in the Kingdom now sitting in Heavenly places, but at the Judgment, they will be weeded out. The goats and the sheep will be separated from one another and the goats will be cast into the furnace of fire (i.e., the Lake of Fire). So any believer who thinks they can and still be saved is not going to make into God’s Kingdom in the end.

The Hebrew writer is telling us not to give away or sell our birth right (as born again Christians) which is our inheritance of eternal life.

Birthright will not save us if we later justify sin. Like the prodigal son who was said by his father that he was “dead,” and he is “alive AGAIN” after he came home seeking forgiveness with his father.

We own a paid-up tax-free deed to a home in heaven, so that home was gifted to us, but the Hebrew writer is saying we could sell (or give it away) like Esau did.

Which can be as a result of sin or unfaithfulness to God, or later teaching false doctrines that are heretical

Galatians 6:9 "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."

Paul explains plainly that eternal life is the harvest in the future we do not want to “give up”, but that also teaches we can give it up.

If you begin with an incorrect premise your final conclusion will likewise be incorrect.

First to point out, this is the Apostle Paul speaking to first generation believers. We understand that the main command to the church as a whole - literally her very role on this earth - is to spread the gospel, which to the earliest Christians was absolutely paramount, especially so to Paul.

Doing good in this passage is easily seen through this lens because the greatest good we can do for anyone, according to Scripture, is to share the Gospel - the word Gospel comes from the Greek word euangelion which literally means "The Good News".

What does "hears" and "believe" fully mean in this verse, since demons believe a lot about Jesus.

No maybe in this one either

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

I do not preach keeping the law. Salvation is a free gift. However, once we reach the point of eternal life we must hear and respond positively to His voice. This means we must accept discipline. After we prove that we have a spiritual mind, and accept God's discipline, we must walk in the Spirit to continue living physically. We were saved to do the works that God had planned for us. After we start walking in the Spirit we will do as Jesus instructs. Do we have to obey the law No! We must conduct ourselves as a child of God. That means we do try to obey the law, moral parts, not the dietary and other laws that separate the Jews from the gentiles.

AND IF ANYONE quotes a verse from the bible from. Genesis to REVELATION and writes what every word without

adding or subtraction , GREAT. and I always check for. CONTEXT and the message today is NOT about the LAW

or under. the OLD COVENANT. which you are promoting which is not the message for today.

Here is what the message for today ifs anyone wants to be in the FAITH. in 1 Tim 1:4. says

Nor give attention to FABLES and ENDLESS GENENLOGIES. which cause QUESTIONINGS. , rather. than God's

DISPENSATION. THE ONE BY FAITH and most do not know what the word DISPENSATION. //. OIKOMONIA. means

OIKOI means HOUSE and MOMIA LAW the ONE BY FAITH

Which means to be in the FAITH. you have to be DISPENSATIONALIST and all will GROW IN FAITH.

Praise God that it is not a condition for salvation, because nobody could keep such a command perfectly. However, once a sinner is saved, surely it should be their aim to live closer and closer to the way God would have them be, that is, sanctification.

Why are demons always brought into a discussion about belief in Jesus for Eternal Life.

Really what does, what a demon believes (that God is one) have to do with Jesus offering humanity Eternal Life. To people who believe in Jesus for Eternal Life.

Ministers of Satan — 2 Cor 11:14-15 – Grace Evangelical Society

Christendom is awash in false gospels. The primary characteristic of a false gospel is that it requires you to do good works to be eternally saved. It rejects the sufficiency of Christ’s finished work. It rejects His free gift. It rejects His mercy. It rejects the one condition of salvation, which is to believe in Jesus. Instead of the simple message of eternal life, they add all kind of moralistic demands to salvation. It substitutes the saving message with religion and all the rules and regulations that go with it. It preaches ladder theology: keep climbing up to heaven by your own strength and maybe you’ll even make it!

*It also preaches that a born again child of God can become un-born again and cross back over from life to death.

Loving Jesus with all your heart, soul, mind and energy. Is not a condition a person needs to do, to receive God's free gift of Eternal Life
Nonbelieving sinner does not have Godly type Love to go to Deity. Eternal life is one of the wonderful gifts God showers on those who just humbly accept His Love (in the form of forgiveness). Accepting God's forgiveness of an unbelievable huge debt will automatically produce an unbelievable huge Love, Godly type Love, Luke 7. The nonbeliever just needs enough faith/trust to be willing to humbly accept God's forgiveness.

Why are demons always brought into a discussion about belief in Jesus for Eternal Life.

Really what does, what a demon believes (that God is one) have to do with Jesus offering humanity Eternal Life. To people who believe in Jesus for Eternal Life.
I would say, asking the nonbeliever to have a faith in Jesus for eternal life is asking too much. The person in pain because of the bad they have done to others might be willing to humbly accept relieve of that pain from their hated enemy, so they just need to surrender to their enemy in hopes of receiving some relieve in the form of forgiveness.

There is no difference in saying a person must work to receive Eternal life or a person can lose their eternal life. They are both saying the same message which is a person must work to receive eternal life.
