  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee has criticized Orthodox and Catholic church leaders in Jerusalem for disparaging "free-church believers" by claiming in a joint statement that Christian Zionism is a “damaging ideology” that threatens the unity of the Christian community in the Holy Land and undermines the authority of the historic apostolic churches.

In the Jan. 17 joint declaration, titled "A Statement from the Patriarchs and Heads of the Churches in Jerusalem on Unity and Representation of the Christian Communities in the Holy Land," the leaders claimed they have an exclusive role in representing local Christians, claiming that outside Christian groups that have a more pro-Israel stance don't speak for the Christian body.

“The Patriarchs and Heads of Churches in the Holy Land affirm before the faithful and before the world that the flock of Christ in this land is entrusted to the Apostolic Churches, which have borne their sacred ministry across centuries with steadfast devotion," the statement reads.

Your article says that the recent statement condemning Christian zionism (a statement made by certain Lutheran, Catholic and Orthodox groups condemning zionism) was in response to the message/meeting of 1000 pastors and Christian influencers about a month ago.

"The statement comes more than a month after over 1,000 American pastors and Christian influencers toured Israel as part of The Friends of Zion Ambassadors Summit and pledged to support the Jewish people. The event was organized in partnership with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During the event, the delegation laid flowers on the graves of soldiers who died during the Israel-Hamas war and witnessed the impact of the terror group’s Oct. 7 massacre."

The article refuses to specifically state how the zionist pastor's message siding with Israel, is in any way harming Catholic, Orthodox or Lutheran groups.

But one can assume that among the Palestinian Christians and other groups of Christians, some people are opposed to the state of Israel and don't want to see any Christian groups affirming Israel. It could be that those groups are urging Catholic, Orthodox and Lutheran leaders to object.

The harm comes from a bunch of evangelical pastors flying in to study how to be an "ambassador of the state of Israel" as Israel bombs Christian churches and persecutes the Christians who actually live there by confiscating their property, freezing their bank accounts, and evicting them from their homes.

The article mentions that Mike Huckabee wonders why all Christians aren't Zionists. A better question would be how any Christian can support a bunch of Christ-deniers trying to eliminate the Christian presence in the Holy Land.

There is a divide in Christianity that has, as its source, the question of whether God's promises to Israel are now fulfilled through Christian or if it still holds for the descendants of Abraham. Those who hold to the former tend to not be so keen on the modern nation of Israel. Those who hold to the latter support the modern nation of Israel. If those on one side of the divide want to call those on the other Christian Zionists, that's their choice.

My thoughts....
I can see Christian Zionists causing detrimental harm to Israel itself. By supporting the building of the third Temple, by giving Jews a spiritual pass as Hagee has declared, by funneling millions of dollars in support of its secular political system and by not preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ of Nazareth in order to usher in the anti- Christ into the temple....yes I would say the damage is far , far worse for the Jew. People need to study what the ultimate agenda is in Christian Zionism, the human effort to accelerate the second comming which involves, in their belief Dispensationalism, the ultimate destruction of 2/3rd's of the Jews. Even the Jewish nation knows this very well.
But what of the Christian Zionist? Most don't realize this end game and rarely realize they are even in this group!

Let us reason, please.
Seek and ye shall find ..... truth.
But don't take my word for it. Jewish religious leaders have warn about it for years.
