CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Though it is weird that people do that on this site in general. There's another poster who does it, where they start a thread and the first few comments are replies from themselves to their own OP in an effort to continue the thread. It's weird...

A scientific theory is formed based on what evidence is available plus physics plus supposition while allowing for rebuttal or being disproved by gaining more evidence.
Not the diatribe drivel posing as science about diamond rain, water worlds gas giants in close orbit of stars, etc. using nonfactual artist renderings and made up videos and graphics claiming these poor impotent "theories" are facts. That is not science but false religion! And most are simply taking the word of these wild-eyed lunatics without verifying their ridiculous claims or even applying common sense.
Truly people are bleating sheep. Baaaa, so you say baaaa, so anoth says baaaa

The important thing in this context is that a theory must not only be a satisfactory explanation for the totality of the evidence, but there are no competing hypotheses that can match its explanatory power.

You know, if you want to show that the mainstream science is wrong regarding the cosmos... you actually do have to put in the effort to SHOW that it's wrong instead of just SAYING its wrong.
Do the actual work, instead of just spouting this arrogant nonsense and think people will accept what you say as gospel.

You need to substantiate this first.

You have made a claim with no supporting ervidence. That's like a prosecutor tell the jury the gun thug is guilty without providing evidence. Moreover it's also asking the jury to "find the evidence yourself".
There would be as much laughter in that court as in this thread. Your fitness for the bar would be immediately reviewed and found wanting.

That's how science works.
That's what science is about; sorting out what's objectively true from what people "know" but isn't true at all. Just like the "flat Earth" thing. People "know" that the earth is flat, when in fact it isn't, as a matter of faith. Science doesn't work that way.
