I have been think about judgement in the context of all the culture wars on religion and politics. It seems judgement is becoming more common and more extreme.
To a large degree this is media and social media especially. The age where people can voice their opinions online to the world, to friends and enermies. The age of shaming, ousting, and condemning.
Which brings me to the issue of judging others. It seems to me that engaging in culture war fighting or over controversial issues is engaging in judgement of others.
Is this the case. Or is there a time when Christians can call out a wrong without being judgemental in the same way as those fighting with Gods word and laws.
Or is it a case that there are two kinds of judgement. One that is rebuking a fellow Christian to make right with God. The other is destinguishing between Christs teachings and false teachings and sin.
I think Paul did point out that the Romans were worshiping false Gods. He compared false teachers as vipers.
But I think that the church Paul belonged to was living Christs example first and therefore stop with some authority. They had removed the logs from their eyes to be able to make such judgements.
