  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Drill instructors, Hegseth said, would be empowered “to instill healthy fear in new recruits.”

Your opinion about my commander in chief and my secretary of Defense is absolutely 100% incorrect.
No, I don't think so. Hegseth is definitely the keyboard warrior type.

By "keyboard", you mean a Bronze Star recipient in the 101st Airborne Division in Iraq?

Followed by being promoted to Major and being a counterinsurgency instructor in Kabul?

If you don't like the guy that's fine, but he's not a "keyboard warrior"

Two bronze stars! And no valor device. Shoot, I also have two bronze stars without a bronze V. In the Navy, those are referred to as "admin" bronze stars. "Oh, you were in country, your MSM becomes a BSM by default". I also made O-4 but 95% of my time was full active duty.
Now, this is a tough one to get.

My understanding is that the bronze star, when awarded to officers w/o a 'v' device (i.e. for "meritorious service"), is considered something of a participation trophy.

Those medals and $22 will get me a shot of Johnny Walker Blue at the Irish pub at GTMO.

At an Irish pub, you pick an overpriced scotch that sucks?

If he has it, then yes. Despite what he has earned, he certainly now screams "keyboard warrior" in his insecurity.

It's GTMO. The Jamaican and Filipino workers there really captured the vibe of the Emerald Isles.

The place didn't have any Irish beverage except Bailey Irish Cream. Not even Tillimore Dew. (Give every man his due)

I'd have taken the waterboarding instead.
I was stationed there back in the old days when that stuff happened.

The old camp x-ray, cropped to remove identifying info.

Participation in what? If the answer is "the military", then that would mean the "keyboard warrior" accusation the other poster made would be inaccurate.

Isn't the "keyboard warrior" designation one that's typically used to describe people who didn't serve?

That’s not what I’ve understood it to mean.

The other definition I've heard is one that implies

"Someone who does all of their trash talking online in anonymity because they'd be afraid to face real world consequences"

That wouldn't apply to Hegseth either would it?, he's certainly not anonymous when he's making comments...and I don't know that "afraid to say it to someone's face" would describe a member of Airborne who was a counterinsurgency instructor, either.

I wasn't the one who used the term "keyboard warrior."

I used the term "participation trophy," which would mean he got a medal for showing up and doing his job.

Well I definitely recognize the location. I used to be wild about Chuck Norris back in the days when I was turning twelve and becoming a teen, and my mom noticed it and said that the photos were of John d’versalles (Renee Magritte), and had been taken in Paris by Napoleon and his army then colorized later in a collage. That’s the location, it is in Revlon, in Hue, and was the house of Claude Monet, called The Versailles of the East.
Nothing sez “yeah, I’m an Emperor, and I’m hip enough to to have examples of the latest technology (even though the first “photograph“ will not have been taken for five-six years after I will have shuffled off this mortal coil)!”, quite like these facts.
